Why not just rent rather than buy

I'm not sure renting is that dangerous given the presence of rating owners on sites like Ebay. Personally, I think I'm more likely to get ripped off by Best Buy's restocking fee than I am getting ripped of renting an imaginary timeshare owner off of Ebay.
