  • selling a timeshare - newbie

Forgive me I'm sure this has been covered quite extensively.

I have been the recipient of a "gift" of two weeks of a time share. It is a nice place (used to be Guanahani Village now transitioning to Blue Coral or something) and the weeks are both back to back in May so I don't think it's a bad place, but it's just not something I want to deal with every year. It's been upgraded to an RCI diamond resort with their upgrades so you can get a higher grade switch.

How do I sell it? Are the timeshare websites online and on tv any good or do they scam you? Can I sell it person to person? How much does a broker charge? Since it's in the Bahamas do I have to go through Bahama Law or some such thing?

    Thanks!

Well, May in the Bahamas is kinda lowish season, "upgraded to RCI diamond" is really meaningless, Red =/= Red, E=MCsquared, and you can't push a rope.

(Almost) all the timeshare websites you'll immediately find online are scams, what we call UFFCs (up-front fee companies) they take your money and do nothing.

Yes, somewhere in the closing process you may well need some Bahamian help, a good closing company can take care of it all.

Want to get rid of it? Do some research, make a good listing, post it on eBay for $1 and let it run.

Better yet, stick around here, learn how to use your 'gift' and enjoy vacations for the rest of your life.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®
