El Cid Vacations Club, El Cid La Ceiba in Cozumel as home resort, floating red studio.
Thanks for your responses. I did realize after posting that the resort is RCI points that that doesn't mean the week I bought is. I am checking with the seller and I will be disappointed if it is not, but as you said, still think I made a good deal on what I got, and can also use the week in the points for deposit program in El Cid, so it's still not a bad deal either way, although what I wanted was RCI points. I'll post back when I hear from the seller.
Hmmmm, is it El Cid that is now a Wyndham/Fairfield property?????
Does it also trade in II?????
That could actually be a 'good' ownership.
As far as I know, it doesn't trade in II. At least it didn't when we bought it and we haven't been told anything otherwise.
It used to be a part of FF, but they pulled out and formed their own club, although it is still an affiliate. So it does trade freely into FF, but only the original FF, not Wyndham. It's not a bad deal, except I paid too much, having bought from the developer, and since it's in Mexico, it's RTU rather than deeded. I'd also rather have my home resort be one I could drive to, but I can trade into FF resorts I can drive to with no trade fee, so it's not totally bad. I was also very disappointed to find out that my RCI membership through them is not a "real" RCI membership (see this thread) http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...-club-rci.html
so I didn't have access to last calls, extra vacations, etc., which was one thing we really wanted to take advantage of.
So, we made some big mistakes on the first one, but will enjoy it anyway. If this second one IS RCI points, the two of them will be all we'd ever need.
It may be shown on the RCI website as a RCI Points resort, but what you just bought may not be a RCI Points ownership.
If it was not enrolled in the RCI Points program then you may be looking at a very heavy conversion fee to get it into the RCI Points program.
If you find out that was the yearly RCI fee paid by this owner last year the amount paid will tell you if it is in RCI weeks or RCI Points.
If you bought it to mainly get into RCI Points and it not been converted then dump it as the converison costs are typically to high. There are RCI converted RCI Points resales out there that would be a better bargin.
I doubt that this has been converted to RCI Points based on the info that the OP has posted.
The main one is the low transfer fees the OP listed are a fair amount less than the transfer fee and the yearly RCI Points fees.

See my post above.... it's both. The RCI website does show it as RCI points.
Actually, no. Amber Vacation Club is as noted used within the various resorts. You have access to RCI as a 'Weeks" resort by contacting the Amber Vacation Club and letting them know that you wish to deposit your week within RCI. They will then send RCI notification that you have deposited the week from your resort to RCI. Note that all the transactions go through the Amber Vacation Club for reserving a unit within the club and for making deposits within RCI Weeks.
You are correct that it does show RCI Points but to be an RCI Points, the resort may switch over to RCI Points and there will no longer be the listing as an RCI Weeks resort. As such, many weeks in the resort will remain RCI Weeks even though the resort is listed as RCI Points. Furthermore, I believe that the resorts have pushed owners to upgrade to RCI Points. My understanding is that once that is done, you are no longer in the Amber Vacation Club. The following URL explains how to convert Amber Points into RCI weeks; AMBER Vacation Club
Just a reference, I used to own week 51 at Alhambra Villas and I have gone through the process above to exchange into RCI. I had 1404 AVC points and the ability to exchange into RCI Weeks but it was not an RCI Points unit.
