  • Hilton Grand Vacation opinions please

Hello my husband and I just purchased a hilton vacation timeshare. tHis is our first time doing this and I dont know if we got a good deal so to speak. we purchased at the Carlsbad mirabella...its a new resort. DOes anyone have a Hilton vacation and what have your experiences been?

We purchased the studio package and get 2500 points everyother year, for the initial sign up we got 10,000 bonus points. My question also is are these points transferable if we dont use them before the 2 year limit? thanks!

Others who know more about HGVC will offer their expertise, I'm sure, but it sounds to me like you are not quite sure exactly what you purchased. It's a buyer's market right now, and my suggestion would be to rescind the purchase if you are within the timeframe to do so. If it's a good deal, it will be there next week, next month, or next year. Then, hang around here and learn about timeshares and then you will be able to make a better informed decision.

Rarely is buying from the developer a good idea.

Yes, rescind if possible. HGVC resorts are great properties but you can trade into them for far less than owning them.

We own with Hilton. Great properties and one of the best and most flexible reservation systems of any timeshare developement. For the quality Hilton puts out they have very reasonable MF's IMO.

But, Hilton can be purchased on the resale market for around 50% of what you'll pay buying direct from Hilton and, you'll have all of the same benefits with the exception of qualifying for elite status. IMHO, elite status isn't worth developer pricing.

We love the HGVC system but rescind if you can then determine what will best meet your needs and buy resale.

To give you an idea of what you can get on the resale market:
          Property listing at Selling Timeshares
Property listing at Timeshare Resale Pros (scroll down to see listings for each HGVC resort)

Also take a look at the threads at the Hilton TUG forum - Hilton / HGVC - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums

Based on their SW FL resorts, which I am extremely familiar with, they are a good company.

If we needed another timeshare, which we don't, this might be one, but not for more than a buck on eBay, and provided the annual fee was low, which I suspect none of them are.

              Rescind if you can.

But if not, you'll need to buy more points ( Resale of course) no matter what. 2500 pts isn't enough to do anything with. IMHO the smallest package of pts from HGVC is 5000 yearly. That gets you one week a year at most all resorts and by combining your pts from a couple years, you can get Hawaii EOY.
