  • Review: The Historic Powhatan Resort / Powhatan Plantation

Following is an overview of the review that was added:

Resort is outside of town, nice country setting, ponds, geese. Pools, (3) were nicely kept, as well as the grounds. Our unit had nice granite counters and s/s appliances. All furnature nice except one chair. Beds very comfortable pillow top.

Unit number 274, 1st floor, I banked the 2nd floor with RCI and it was occupied. Therefore I did not get to see that unit.

Unit 274 is Building 61 Leafwood Lane in the North section. I believe the whole section was renovated a few years ago and is in fine shape. We used to own 281 but assigned it to Club last year. This section is our favorite because of the proximity to the pool complex. We've stayed in several units in this area and found all of them to be excellent.

If you liked the 1st FL, the 2nd FL will be just as nice as they renovate the entire unit at the same time. In this section the main bathroom on the 2nd FL is huge and my wife thinks fabulous. She'd ALMOST prefer the that 2nd FL bathroom over the 1st FL hot tub room - notice the emphasis on ALMOST.

"All" is a strong word, but I think "many" of the 2nd FL units in this section have had their 2nd BR converted from two twins to a Queen.

Which, in my opinion, is the stupidest thing they could have done. Almost any guest I have ever had has wanted two twin beds in the second bedroom, you can push two twins together if need be, but you can't split a queen.

                I totally agree! Its ridiculous!!!

We will turn down a room if it has a queen in the 2nd BR.

We like a queen size bed for my 85 years old mother-in-law.

                    Question about Unit 214

I recently purchased this unit and have not seen it yet. Does anyone know the location or if it is near this unit that got the good review? Thanks so much!

Glad to hear the hot tub was working. We've been going to Powhatan for about 7 or 8 years and for the past 3 or 4, the hot tubs barely functioned. We usually get a 4BDRM so that we can have friends stay with us. This year we are taking the 2nd floor and letting them have the 1st. I think the 2nd floor is brighter and roomier.
Did you get to visit the indoor pool? It was still under renovation when were there last.
Can't wait to go again. We'll be there in two weeks.
