During my stay I found it odd that there was no on site office. Parking is a real problem. The room was stuck in the eighties and only medium clean. Too much noise from next door. Pools were too small and only so so clean. The employees I spoke to acted as if they didn't want to be there. No prize for me and no hurry to ever go back. There is better

      Office

Y'know, I did think the office thing was strange, too, especially since they have an on-site welcome center (ie sales office) and an onsite activities center). But it wasn't a problem as I only needed to go one extra block on arrival day.

And luckily, our unit was dead quiet. I am noise sensitive to a fault and get really grumpy if my stay is disturbed by lots of noise next door or above. We didn't hear a peep in any direction from our unit.

We stayed at GTS a couple of summers ago. The unit was older and the kitchen and bathroom were definately sub-standard for most of the timeshares we've stayed in but, they were adaquate and we were comfortable in the unit. GTS's biggest assest is it's location in relationship to Gatlinburg and The Great Smokey Mountains National Park. If I recall correctly, there is a trolley stop just a short walk from GTS.

We stayed there a few months ago. Liked the location, no issues with noise and we never even visited the pools. Off site office was different but didn't cause any issues. Parking was definietly tight!

Master bathroom was quite large and I like that there was a curved shower curtain. Unit seemed clean.

I also liked the large balcony - it was nice to sit out there sometimes.

Didn't care for no laundry in units but at least it was free if you schleped your stuff to the laundry room. Stayed in places where we had to schlep AND pay and that really pisses me off.

The kitchen however was a bad joke. Who the heck planned that one?? You couldn't open drawers due to them being blocked by appliances. The silverware was stored in the panty as no room for it in the kitchen. That is just plain stupid. No counter space. We use our kitchens so this was a real hassle.

Oh, and in the unit was a very nice plush bear that my DD simply loved. Free to take. I found that weird but what the heck. And they offered a bribe.... if you give them all 5 stars on all areas on your RCI feedback form they enter you in a drawing for a free week's stay. I thought the bribe was TACKY and not very ethical.

Wow, I didn't even read the feedback form!

I did notice we got one, and it said something about how they strive for 5s or whatever, but we didn't have a pen or pencil anywhere in the unit so I didn't even bother reading the form. I agree, that is very tacky.

And you're dead right -- I forgot to put a comment about the weirdness of the kitchen drawers! We do use TS kitchens but we keep it really simple on vacation so the sub-optimal layout wasn't that big a deal...but man was it stupid! The silverware was stored in the closet in the entry hall rather than in drawers next to the sink. The drawers there were very narrow (5"?) but you'd still think they'd put the silverware there and put the lesser used items across the hall.

Also in the hall closet were the bowls and pans. Very odd.

But all that said, I still found the unit comfortable, usable, and enjoyable. I just wouldn't want to cook in that kitchen every day
