I wanted to add a few things about the resort amenities and upgrades:

The gym has been nicely redone with all new equipment.

There is a Toyota car rental kiosk in the lobby, as well as a desk for booking a variety of island activities/trips.

Matthew's restaurant on-site has a great breakfast, very reasonably priced. Also good 2 for 1 happy hour drink specials.

2 Bedroom units get 6 pool towels, exchangeable daily at the Towel window. There is a kiddie pool and small jungle gym.

There are several shops on the ground floor, and more next door at Aruba Beach Club, accessible through indoor walkway.

The 1 bedroom Ambassador units, in a separate building across the road, have their own pool area and are slotted for kitchen redesign.

Ongoing upgrades to the 2 bedroom units include replacement of kitchen cabinets and countertops. Our unit had not yet been done and was more than fine but had new fridge and stove, which I believe has been done in all units. Upgrades are being done on an "as available" basis, with the aim of doing 3 suites per week, scheduled completion for all, according to the website, is expected around November 2011.

eta: Forgot to mention the WIFI in the units - worked great. I think we may have paid a nominal fee for it.

We also stayed here, but it's been several years.
It really was nice to have that great ocean front, not as crowded as other locations. That sandy beach was terrific and we didn't have to fight for space or an umbrella at the time. We'd definitely go back.
