  • The Resort and Club at Little Harbor, Ruskin, FL

we are in the home town of the man who flew into the white house lawn with 53 letters just this week. This is a beautiful resort in a very out of the way place, that we ended up in accidentally. On the trip from I75 to the resort we drove past trailer parks, and little old houses, a shabby main strip, and finally, at the end of a road is a beautiful resort on the bay with a marina and a small beach, restaurants, townhouses, suites, and an old hotel.

It has been a strange saga as we booked into Beso del Sol in Dunedin a year ago, and then heard reports of cockroaches, and then getting a call from the resort that our room was unavailable and we were in a suite for two nights and then would move to a bigger unit. I called and emailed DAE and posted here and on TUG. On Thursday morning got a call from DAE that they were going to move me. on Thursday night they said they would move me here, but no kitchen. When we looked on the map we could see that there was nothing anywhere near by,and called back but were told Dunedin was cancelled.
so we had some trepidation coming here, as my friends in the area said you won't have anything to do and the reports on Tripadvisor were mixed.

WE checked into a lovely suite, it is small but nicely done, a balcony with a view of a parking lot and no kitchen. We went out the door to return the luggage cart and a lady was passing by in a bath robe. She showed us the other side of the building and voila, a giant terrace with all kinds of seating arrangements looking out at a marina where several manatees were playing, and in the distance, sunset beginning over Tampa Bay.

I brought my book and sat in a comfortable chair facing the harbor. After two weeks of company, and a total of 75 days of company or family trips since November, i am looking forward to relaxing this week.

many of the negative things on tripadvisor are true:, a pedestal sink in bathroom with no towel racks and nowhere to keep your stuff, a mini fridge, a dirty carpet, absolutely nothing supplied, need to buy some paper towels and another role of toilet paper today, no towel exchange, a not so nice beach area, I think we will enjoy the relaxation here.

The strangest thing: last night at ten o'clock I received a call from Beso del Sol because I hadn't checked in yet. The reseration had not been cancelled.

Wow. What an adventure in inefficiency. :roll eyes:

Glad that at least you got a quiet place with a nice view to de-stress in.
Is this a boater's type resort like the Keys?

And how awesome you got to see manatees.
For me, any resort that gives you a close up to the marine life is worth overlooking a few shortcomings.

Beso del Sol would be maybe an hour or so,maybe more as lots of traffic. we just got a few groceries (and paper towels), and area is really shabby, but then you see a high priced subdivision. as far as I can tell a river leads into Tampa Bay here, lots of marinas, boat storage, etc, and million dollar houses on inlets. beach on tampa bay seems strange, but may try it and apparently one section for guests here with chairs and umbrellas, looks like two restaurants, and there is an area behind hotel where they say the dolphins play so going back closer to evening, and see if they are out there.

I've often wondered about that resort. Keep us posted and enjoy what you can and sorry you didn't get to stay in Dunedin.

ps. Manatees congregate near the power plant that is north of there. There is an observation area, but not sure when it closes for season.

the observation area is closed for the season.

Global connections, many people who belong are staying here. they paid $109 for the week. When Beso del Sl called me last night they said global connections usually was better at keeping them informed. So DAE must get some weeks through Global connections.
