We stayed at Carolina Grande as guests of an owner (thanks Tom!). Upon arrival I requested a high floor. We were originally slated for the 9th floor, but the desk clerk moved us to the 18th floor. Check in was quick and easy. The parking was in the garage. The resort was crowded as it was spring break week.
We had a 1BR/1BA that had a lock-out door (I'm not sure what was on the other side).
The elevator opens to an outside cat-walk with doors that lead to hallways. Both 1806 and 1807 enter through a common, unlocked hallway with entry doors at the end.
You enter in to the unit hallway with the bedroom directly to the left. The bedroom has a window overlooking the catwalk. The catwalk on our side of the building looked out away from the ocean on to a large parking lot. We could see Broadway at the Beach in the distance.
The unit was very clean.
The king size bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were too soft to provide good neck support. There were plenty of plugs, and a ceiling light/fan as well as lamps. There was a good size flat screen tv in the room.
The bathroom was unremarkable. The shampoo/conditioner/lotion/soaps were great. Towels were good quality.
The kitchen was one of the best equipped I have seen in a timeshare. It had a toaster, blender, good knives, bowls, pots, pans, and lots of gadgets. We did not cook but could have prepared a variety of meals. There was a full size dishwasher that was very quiet.
The glass dining table had comfortable chairs.
The sleeper sofa had nice firm cushions but they hung over the edge of the couch and could not be pushed back flush against the back of the couch. The lighting was good in the living room also. There was a large flat screen Smart-TV.
The stackable washer and dryer were in a closet in the living/dining room.
The balcony off the living room overlooked the 6th floor pool/hot tub area. The pool was heated. The resort gave a tote bag with 4 beach towels in the room. They were to be used for the week, then left in the unit upon check out. The towels were good quality.
The balcony also overlooked the ocean across the street. Our view was between 2 high rise hotels and over a low rise building that were oceanfront, but we were happy with it. There were 2 plastic chairs and a small plastic low table (stool?) on the balcony.
The guests at Carolina Grande are given bracelets to use the pools and fitness center at the hotel across the street. The beach is just across the street and down a walkway. Although the air temperature was 80 degrees, the ocean water was too chilly for swimming.
There are lots of things to do in Myrtle Beach. It is touristy, and Easter weekend was VERY crowded. I am thinking that it is mobbed in the summer.
I would not hesitate to stay at this resort again.
