    Palm Canyon Resort & Spa

We just spend the week at the Palm Canyon Resort & Spa, October 17th through 24th.

I think one of the buildings was closed for renovation bec. we had booked a two bedroom unit, and one of the bedrooms had twin beds instead of a queen or double. And when I asked if we could get switched to a two bedroom with both bedrooms having a queens or doubles, they were unable to accomodate us. They said they were at capacity and one of the buildings was closed for maintenance. If they moved us, we might end up with a two bedroom, one bath instead of the two bedroom, two bathroom we currently had.

Overall, the facility was in pretty good shape. They were doing hallway carpet renovation. I think our building had already been completed. The hallways looked fine. The laundry facility were at the end of the hallway and they were coin-op. There was an ice machine on the second floor of each unit.

The suite was spacious. The kitchen was a little small, but perfectly adequate. We cooked in the unit several times, breakfasts and dinners. There were enough dishes to go around for four adults and two children. There was an oven and gas range with pots and pans and cooking utensils which was nice. It was nice to have a dishwasher too.

The master bedroom was pretty nice. There was only a 35-inch flat screen in the living room. The bedrooms both had older model tv's. It would have been nice to have a radio in the living room. The was a dvd/vhs player in the living room. They no longer have videos at the front desk, but there are several nearby places to rent videos. They do have board games at the front desk.

The second bedroom was also nice, but like I said, it had twin beds. We were a little disappointed in that. The master bedroom had a jacuzzi tub. The second bathroom just had a regular tub. You could tell a little wear and tear around the edges of the bathtubs, but not bad at all. Not very noticeable.

The pool area is great. One side for the kids and the other side for the adults. The pool bar was closed for "renovation" during October, but they had set up a little area and you could still buy food and drinks like smoothies at the pool area.

The only annoying thing was the towel exchange. They keep telling you you need to check out towels and check them back in. But half they time, when we went to return the towels, the towel desk was closed and they just had bins out. So how could you check them in?

The staff overall was nice. The Spa was reasonable. The prices are comparable to what you would pay for other spas in the area. It is above the lobby area.

I'm glad we stayed at a resort at Palm Springs. It was very centrally located to Palm Springs. I don't think we would have been as happy at Palm Desert. We'd be driving in to Palm Springs everyday.

There were a lot of activities in the area to keep busy.

Overall, not the most luxurious timeshare we've been to, but I was pleased. It is definitely great if you have children. My daughter went to the pool everyday, which was very important to her. She's four.

The only other thing is that there is no free wi-fi at this resort. They have switched over to Wayport, which charges you for wi-fi access. I think it was $4.95 for an hour. $19.95 for three days, and $29.95 for the week. I think there was a price for just the day access, but I can't remember what it was. You can only use it on one computer. My husband paid for it, and I just saved things to a thumbdrive and used his laptop to e-mail things out that I needed to for work.

Sorry about that. I did not realize there was another area for reviews. I cut and paste the review above into the review area.
