This is our 6th Christmas at this resort. Nearly all units have been completely refurbished since Hurricane Ivan.

The pics look really nice. When we were last on GC, we noticed that the beach by the Marriott was extremely narrow. Is it the same at 7 Mile Beach?

When were you there last? The beach has come and gone and come again. SMB resort is 2 doors south of the Marriott, and Plantation Village is next door (south) of SMB. That area of the beach has experienced erosion in the past. It is not as wide as I remember it 10 years ago, but it is much better after Hurricane Ivan than it was before.

We were there pre-Ivan, in 2003. I'm glad to hear the beach is better since Ivan, at least something benefitted!.

Thank you for your response. Here's my problem. Do we want to trade our best RCI trader for Morritt's Grand (& not be on 7 mile beach with the action) or use our best II trader for 7 Mile Beach Resort?

Personally, either would be great. Hubby is a diver and likes at least some nearby activities but also likes gold crown/5 star resorts.

Any opinions?

I own a wide variety of timeshares, including Marriott. Some are 5 Star and Gold Crown and some are not. I have owned at SMB for a number of years. I always use my SMB week. The units are comfortable, and the staff is friendly. There are fewer than 40 units. There are some pre and post hurricane pictures on the website link I posted. Go to the top of the webpage and click on Progress Report Photos. The photos are a little dated, but the office building is still not repaired. The plan is to tear it down and rebuild it sometime this year. As of December, they were still using the tennis court to store building materials.

I can't tell you what your husband would like. Morritts is a nice resort. For my family and me, it is too remote. I am a scuba diver. There are numerous dive options at 7 Mile Beach - West, North and South. There are also shore diving options within a short drive. The resort has its own dive shop, although the dive staff turns over about every two years.

Plantation Village, which is next door, is a bigger resort. It has also been refurbished and exchanges through II. A few of the units are ocean front, but for many guests, you have to walk the same distance to the beach as us SMB owners.
