Thanks for the review....I'd like to go to Newport in the near future, and was wondering what resort to try to stay at.

Seems Fairfield really has the majority of the resorts Newport. Unfortunately, I don't see many summer dates, if any, showing up in II. Maybe early fall, for leaf peeping would be a nice time to go.

I have seen the out side and the area of a couple of the FF. They seem to be in a good area. I wish I could get a summer trade there.

I assume then, that RCI is no better for sighting summer weeks.....They are pretty much non-existent in II.

I bet you can get summer weeks in RCI if you put a request in pretty far out with a strong trader (if I got Samoset, anything is possible). Or last minute, which is how I got it. RCI has the majority of the inventory there, so an ongoing request ought to pay off.

I asked about this OY--does Newport trade well? It must, right? And yet it's hardly ever mentioned on the boards.

Newport summer should do very well, I wouldn't risk any shoulder weeks.

Like Cape Cod, wouldn't you think? Very strong trader in high summer?

I would think. Also, I don't know how/if any FF priority plays into this; and whether RCI inventory is limited due to FF reservations being made first.

FF itself has very little availability in Newport. They are simply the management company only for most of the resorts. Not the impression they convey.

As for prime availability in either RCI or II, an owner would be unwise to deposit. They could rent easily at attractive rates. A two bedroom for instance I would guess about $2,300 - $2,700.

I think for that reason they are not often seen in the exchange companies.

Prime summer weeks are more likely end of June thru end of August.

I don't see XMAS when the mansions are decorated often on RCI either.
