Couldn't agree more with your post. I stayed in the same tower at the end of June and other than the parking being at a bit of a premium at times, it was great.

      Thanks for the review.
My husband is planning to go next year due to a conference in Vegas. We have Fairfield points. Do you by chance know about how far it is to the Convention Center? His conference also has shuttle buses running from various places on the Strip. It sounds like he could catch a shuttle to the strip and then catch another to the Convention Center? Since he is only there a few days, he wants to try to do it without a car. I think he will also like the space in the timeshare much more than a hotel room. He doesn't gamble so nothing to miss at the casino hotels.

Thanks - my husband knows very little about timeshares and he is still warming up to my considerable interest (though we have taken a few trips in the last two years and he acknowledges that they are nice). I want him (and a few colleagues he brings along) to have a good experience.

The convention centre is beside the Hilton which I believe is on Paradise Road. The Grand Desert is on Harmon Avenue which is a short cab drive away.

The Grand Desert has a shuttle that runs to Harrahs on the strip and your husband could probably take the convention shuttle from there (or the monorail).

        You'll have a great time.

          # of bedroom mix-up

We did a last-minute exchange into Grand Desert 2BR and sent our neighbors there with a guest certificate. When they got there, they were told the exchange was for one bedroom, not two bedrooms. Apparently it didn't matter it was clearly indicated on the paper that the reservation was for 2 bedroom. Our neighbors ended up with the one-bedroom unit for the week. What a bummer! Now we are sending our neighbors to FSA in December, I hope they will get their two-bedroom unit!

Cab will be much faster to the convention center, which is easily accessible from the Grand Desert. Conveniently, GD and Convention Center are both on the east side of the strip, so travel is "relatively" uncongested from GD to Paradise and then north to the CC.

We stay there often, and the shuttle works pretty well. But we usually rent a car - it makes it more convenient for groceries and off-the -strip activities. In fact, we almost never drive on the strip, taking Koval instead. Back entrances to the east-side-of-the-strip hotels are well marked, and it's fun to go to some of the other casinos.

We've stayed here as well, my only issue was with the parking. If we got back late in the evening, we had to drive around quite a bit to find a spot. Other than that, we were very happy with our 2 bedroom.
