  • Review: Peacock Suites Resort // Shell Vacations at Peacock Suites

Following is an overview of the review that was added:

I did a last minute exchange into Peacock Suites so I could visit my son, who recently moved to LA from Manhattan. For this purpose, the Peacock Suites provided me with the clean bed I was looking for. However, if you are looking for a destination type resort, forget this place. The 1 bedroom suite was very small, and would be very crowded for more than 2 people.

Thanks for the review - my DD and friend are staying there for 5 nights in November...is there any way to get around the $8/day valet fee?
    They are on a budget!

      Close to Disney

...and that's the only good thing about this property. It may be a converted Holiday Inn? Tiny rooms, microwave and mini fridge in our two bed.
Fortunately, we were there for Disney only, otherwise would have been horrible!

We stayed there for 10 days in 2006. The bedroom was small for a king size bedmbut was in very good condition. The Living room, however was not updated. The furnishing were old and the sofa was soiled.

They provided free continetal breakfast. Better than some of the free breakfast from chain hotels such as Best Western. They still do that?

Parking used to be free on the lower level but space were limited. The parking attendant lied to us that we had to use valet and pay parking. We found out later that we could park in the hotel next door for the free.

There was a bar across the street that closed down. If still closed, may be they can park there. The hotel next door has lots of parking, don't know if they enforce towing. We needed a parking pass from the hotel to park there.

It's not a bad place, considering the location is just a few blocks from Disneyland. We slept very well, the bed was comfortable. They couldn't provide us a blender for my morning shake, which was disappointing, so we bought one. We drove so it was not a big deal.

The parking lot was always full, but Rick managed to find a space somewhere. We made sure we got back before the crowds at the end of the day.

We certainly didn't spend time there, except to sleep and shower. It's not a place you want to sit around, kind of like a hotel. I do agree that the furniture was dreary, brown, needed replaced. The main room of the two-room unit was not inviting at all. We put our suitcase on the sofa and never sat there once.

The noise at night was a little annoying, with families returning after a long day at the parks. But at least the bathroom was between the exterior hall and the bedroom, so we closed our bedroom door so we wouldn't hear it through the living area.

The kitchenette is a microwave and bar-sized refrigerator. No sink, paper plates, napkins and plasticware. There was a small table in that area.

Shell is selling from that location. We walked into the 3 bedroom suite they were using for tours and thought that unit looked completely out of place, it was so much newer, cleaner and much more attractively furnished. Reminds me of seeing Shearwater's beautiful model. We were sorely disappointed that the units were UNdecorated, if that is a word. Perhaps they were never decorated, but they definitely are not as fancy as what we saw, and what was on the website.

We checked out the Peacock Suites when we visited the area in early 2007. We were very disappointed. The 1 BR looked like motel room. No wonder it shows up on RCI all the time.

            Couple of alternates:

A world class resort from WorldMark will be opening next to the Peacock Suites by the end of this year. If you need something before that, try for WorldMark Dolphins Cove.

They are converted hotel suites & the 1 BRs are 395 sq. ft. (it's a hotel room). Parking might be at a premium at the hotel, but isn't at such a premium in the area that they should be charging $8/day for parking IMO. They started charging for parking 10/06.

It is most definitely just a room & depending on whether you will be staying for the whole 7 days & how much you value your week (with or w/o MF) in addition to the parking fee & guest cert., if needed, you might consider one of the Good Neighbor motels/hotels directly across the street from Disneyland instead (there are some suite hotels, but prices do vary throughout the year).

Dolphin's Cove is a little bit further from Disneyland (1 1/2 miles) than Peacock Suites (about a mile) & recommended over Peacock Suites if you have the choice between the two. The rooms there are modestly decorated with full kitchens in 2 floor apartment style buildings, but more importantly, you'll have space inside & outside of your room, plenty of parking, a pool, gas grills, etc. It's more of a resort & as mentioned, the Peacock Suites shouldn't be considered a resort...it's a small hotel.

The new Worldmark is a multi-story building being built right next to a brand new shopping area with a Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen & Bubba Gump's. It should definitely be more of what's expected from a TS resort in a popular destination like Disneyland.

                Location

The free shuttle bus to Disney is the best thing. Really, the only good thing.

I traded a Marriott week I had in SFX for this resort - I use the term resort loosely - my DD and her friend were not happy with the accommodations. She did not feel 'safe' in the hallways, etc.

Only place in an 8 week TS trip that was not up to standards.
