Thanks for the wonderful review, Mike. We confirmed a 2BR exchange (through RW) for early March '08 at this resort. Like you, we're only going to stay a few days just to get away from it all and enjoy ourselves.

We also plan on bringing our pet. I wonder if they'll waive the pet fee for RW exchangers?? Guess we'll find out when it gets closer to our check-in date.

Btw, how did they find out your email address? I find it unique they contacted you through this route.

Did you participate in any of the onsite activities? If so, which ones? Were there fees involved? We don't plan on doing any offsite activities since we're only going to be there for a few days.

    Thanks, again.

      Trish,

I believe that the source of the email was through RCI. Since I have my email address with it and I purchased the exchange as a Last Call, I assume that was how they had my email address.

As for on site activities we did, miniature golf, swimming, john boat ($10 rental). The horseback riding is $15 per person. However, the resort gave me a 2 for 1 coupon so it would be $15 for 2 people. The mule wagon ride is $5 per person. I think most of the other activities were free, like the movies, archery, karaoke, etc.

Make sure you take food staples like salt, pepper, oil, etc. You do get one coffee pack, so if you are a coffee drinker, bring your own.

Our dog loved the resort. You have to have them on a lease. But out in the woods, she was able to run free. We saw several deer and other animals in the woods.

This sounds like THE perfect getaway for us and our lil' Chihuahua.

While we have stayed at a Silverleaf resort before, we have never participated in their onsite activities. With all they offer, I have a feeling we'll have more than enough things to do without having to leave the resort. Big plus for us!!

Thanks for the tips and activity prices.

        We can't wait!

          Thanks for a great review

          Mike,

Really appreciated the review as we have an exchange there for 4th of July 08. We actually own a Silverleaf property but not this resort, in fact haven't even used our own week except to exchange.

I had a question about the lodge rooms. Are the units all on one level with some units on the 1st floor and some on the 2nd? I don't do stairs well and was planning to call the resort a few weeks ahead of time with unit request. What would you suggest?

          TIA - Vicki

The lodge units are all in 2 story buildings. But the units are all one level, either on ground level or on the 2nd floor. The cabins are all one story and one level. There are like 3 or 4 units in a cabin building. Both cabins and lodges are located on the east side of the resort.

The presidential units are all on the west side and are 3 stories.

I requested a ground level lodge unit and that is what we received.

We were there in late September and had a Presidential unit. (These are the Sat-Sat that are posted as 6/6 on RCI.) We were in the first building - across from the Activities Center and could use wireless internet from the dining room table! The Presidential units have 2 king beds and a W/D. The RCI gal also waived our pet fee. (The other 2 Silverleaf's we visited on this trip did not.) The information breakfast was really good and no one asked us to take a tour. It just had good food and information. Our cocker spaniel loved roaming in the woods too.

I forgot, for RCI exchangers they have a free fajita dinner on Thursday night.

Wow!! That's nice. What's the catch for the fajita dinner? Oh well. We won't have to worry about that since we confirmed our exchange through Redweek. Hmmm. I wonder if they do anything special for RW exchangers?

We have a Sat-Sat, sleep 6 check-in. I was told we'll be confirmed in a Presidential Unit. Since the Presidential Units are three stories high, do they have elevators?

Supposedly there was no catch for the fajita dinner. I think that they really want RCI exchangers to rate the resort as high as possible. A type of bribery, my kind of course.

I didn't see any elevators on the Presidential units but I wasn't really looking. Maybe someone else can answer that.

We've stayed in two different Presidential buildings at Piney Shores and just stayed in the newest designed Presidential at Ozark Mountain. No elevators.

However if you don't want to walk the stairs find out which floor is parking lot level. Usually it is the second floor. First floor is one flight down, third floor is one flight up. But some of the newer buildings at Piney Shores have the first floor at parking lot level. (see detailed photos of the layout of the Presidentials: click below and view the Piney Shores albums and the Ozark Mountain album)

                          Hi all,

Thanks Mike for the good review on Piney Shores.

The Presidentials do not have elevators at this resort. The older units facing the lake have the 2nd level even with the parking lot. The 2 Presidential buildings between the pool area and activity center have 3 stories with 1st story even with Parking lot and the 2 newest Presidentials are the same. The Lodge Units up the hill in the back of the resort are all 3 story units with the 2nd level even with parking lot. The cabin units are 4 units all on ground level. Some have few steps maybe 1 to 6 steps.

Hope this clarifies some of your questions.

How far is Silverleaf's Ozark Mountain resort from Branson?

It is about 20 miles. Takes about 30 minutes to drive over (unless you get stuck behind a really slow driver since it is one lane roadways for much of the drive).
