  • Review: Smugglers' Notch Resort

Following is an overview of the review that was added:

Despite confirmation to the contrary before our departure, all the facilities were closed!!! We checked in Saturday night and left the next night, it was that bad. I've been to the resort during prime season and it was great, but off season with NO amenities simply doesn't cut it for a family with young children.

I'm sorry you had such a miserable time. It does sound awful. Was your unit nice?

A few years back I called Smuggs about our New Jersey April break week, and the phone clerk said that the indoor pool might or might not be open in late April, probably not, since apparently it's an outdoor pool with a bubble over it? (Smuggs doesn't have a real indoor pool?) I asked if anything would be open there and the woman said, "Probably not, we're just getting over the ski season and getting ready for the summer season."

I said that was kind of too bad because a lot of people from New Jersey were dying to go somewhere that week! I definitely got the impression that Smuggs wasn't really into it in April. I would have thought May would be better....

One day, Off season is a tough way to gage a resort. Anytime you travel off season to any property you never know what to expect.

Driving 6 hours to be dissapointed, I feel your pain

I've been lucky. I stayed at Smuggs three times while I lived in Brooklyn. This was before 2004 all summer weeks prior to the facilities fee I think its 250

I have a friend that owns 52 weeks of timeshare there so if you ever want to return during the summer let me know.

        Welcome to this board.

I'm sorry you weren't aware that programming isn't in effect until summer. It says on the website that family programming starts June 13th.

The last time we stayed everything was opened on June 8th and the programming was just starting also. This year they seemed to move it further back a year. We have been considering an exchange either 2009 or 2010 in early June. Is there any info/best guess if they are planning on opening the amenities later each year. I could call the resort but the OP didn't get really good info for this year so my chances of getting accurate info from the person that answers the phone may not be good.

We don't need camps but no pools would be a problem.

On or around June 15th is a good rule of thumb for Smuggs

Thanks Lawren - I think we will be okay. We booked a week a little later in the month just to be sure.
