Thanks. This is always on my list of places to consider, because its location relative to the parks is so good. Hope the lighter pressure is a trend...

      Trips to Westgate Villas

We own also at Cypress Pointe I. Both places have their pluses and minuses. Cypress Pointe has a third bathroom and is much closer to Sea World, Universal Studios, and Disney Marketplace. Westgate units are larger, have two double beds in the second bedroom, and there are more resort amenities.

We own 3 1/2 weeks a year of TS total (FL and NC), and usually go down to Orlando once or twice a year. Last year we went two times, once at Cypress Pointe and the other to Orange Lake. This year we are going twice again, once to Westgate (last week) and in August to Cypress Pointe.

Our last two stays at Westgate Villas, were not as pleasant as this one, and we were reluctant to book with Westgate for this trip, but needed the extra sleeping arraignments the units offer. After this experience, we would gladly return to Westgate Villas.

We own at both Cypress & Westgate as well! The next renovation at Cypress is really going to be something. The 2nd Master bedroom / lock off is getting a complete resign with a sitting/desk area, custom closet/dresser, flat screen tv, marble counter tops, new tile flooring and much more. The little second bedroom is getting a double bed, custom closet/dresser, flat screen TV with cable (yeah!) and may be getting a window to replace the exit door required by fire code (thats not certain yet). The second bathroom is getting new tile, marble and vanity. The kitchen gets new tile, marble counter tops, new cabinetry, and more. The living room gets a totally new arrangement with a wall mounted HDTV, new work/desk area and more. The master bedroom gets the flat panel tv, new marble & tile in the bath and more. Plus both master bath areas get DOORS! I'm telling you if this comes out anything like the drawings we'll have a better than brand new unit again as we did in 2004/5. The model for all the changes is due to be ready by 10/08 for owner and Board review & comment. I can't wait to see it.

Plus I have noticed that WGVV has been doing much needed work as well. Glad to hear you liked it.

Timeos2, when will this project be completed? We will be at CYP I the second week in February 2009 for my birthday.

The planned start date for the first phase (last round it took 3 phases of 3 months each to complete the work) is January 2010. We're trying to be way ahead of the curve by getting models ready now and feedback from owners and guests before the new design is finalized. Unfortunately that means the units will not be ready in 2009. You'll just have to plan another stay in 2010 or 2011!

I would love to hear more details about the new club house, movie theatre etc. I have been following the updates about the updated exterior paint colors and the new roofs. I've seen some pictures, and I think the new colors are very attractive. We are looking forward to seeing all the changes when we stay in November. If we attend the maintenance meeting (doubtful) it will be to lecture the sales rep about further changes that Westgate needs to make to improve their image and reputation.

Definitely one of the all around best, they pretty much own Central Florida. Hence the name Westgate (Vacation Villas opened in the early 80s near the west gate of Disney World.) The PH looks like it's gonna be the bomb, check out the renderings on the website, but as far as pressure on the tour, well....my sources tell me they are rather exuberant as far as that goes.
Those who tell don't know and those who know don't tell....

                  Westgate's New Club House

The new Club House is spacious, it is three or four stories high. The first level has a help desk, check in, attraction ticket sales, a snack shop, and the new movie theatre.

Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of the new club house, nor can I find any on line.

My last visit to Westgate Vacation Villas was in August 2005. Then to check in, I had to stand in line in the parking lot to get pre registration paperwork. Then stand in a cue line in the then club house (next to the main pool). After paying a deposit I was assigned to salesperson to bring me to the unit and setup an appointment for “maintenance review”.

This year (June 1st to June 8th, 2008), I was greeted as we entered the new Club House, ask to sit in a lounge area (leather sofa and chairs) and with in 2 minutes, I was invited to come in to an office area where we gave our credit card for a deposit and assigned a room. I was offered an escort if I wanted to the unit, but I told the rep that I new where building DD was, as we own in Building CC, and the said fine.

Unlike previous visits, I was not called daily to set up a breakfast or maintenance meeting, in fact the only voice mails I got were changes in the activities schedule.

Also new was the Activities Center, a portable building just past the new Club House, the Swan Boats (free to use for owners), the Miniature Golf facility (free to use for owners) and some new pools.
