  • Review: Playa del Sol Costa Sur

Following is an overview of the review that was added:

Poor maintenance, poor service, terrible staff attitudes. Mold, mildew, odor, no purified water even when on AI. Peeling paint. More than 6 couples ill with food poisoning. Will never return to this resort. Worst vacation in all my years in Mexico.

    Please see the review here!

      Oue experience was great

You will see that I gave this place a great review (on TUG) and we want to go back. I was very happy to see it on SFX.

. Whn we went, there was no AI available, have things changed that much?

There are many many long time owners there - certainly they would not allow all that?

Of course, the sales pitch was horrible and I think they are with HSI (?) so maybe that is new....and changing things....?

Has anyone else been there recently?

Glad you got a laugh out of it, actually now that it is behind us it is kind of funny, but believe me at the time it was not...it was a nightmare, like none I have ever experienced in my life LOL. Well, let me just say who am I to tell you not to go there but....if you do and a nighmare occurs I am going to say "told you so" LOL. We had another week after this one and it was great, going to review now...

Yes I saw your review on Tug but not sure when you went, will check.

It is under new ownership the Playa Del Sol group I guess...Yes there is optional AI now ( just a secret do not do it!).

There were many long time owners there while we were, they were not too happy either.....well at least the ones I spoke to....do not think the owners have much say , unless they really balk a lot and speak up as many do not...and even if they do not sure if that always changes things...

Sales pitch, there were not even any sales people there, just an empty room.....NOT THAT WE WOULD HAVE EVEN WANTED TO ATTEND!!! They did send me an email, since arriving home, many fixed weeks for sale at their resort, email or respond via telephone. Must be computer generated as we spoke to manager about how terrible our stay was so why send that. Oh yes, I am going to email them back.....they could not give me an ownership there..................ever!!!

SFX did excellent by me in making other arrangements for me for a week I had booked at that resort for upcoming Nov. so I have to applaud them, but I think they should really reconsider having that resort listed in their portfolio as they I believe pride themselves in quality resorts and this one is going down the drain as they say!

Have things changed that much...appears so from the members I did speak too....

Guess the best I can say is go ahead and go there and see for yourself if you dare......do the AI also so you can know that aspect....now that comes from my mind.....from my heart.....do not do it, I hate to see you spend money, flight , etc.....to experience what many of us did just recently. Make sure you have travelers health insurance and bring antibiotics. I am off to Dr. thursday to have tests for parasites and such and make sure I am fully recovered from food poisoning......along with the cough I have recently developed....hmm..

Go over to TA and check out posts by pammex.......lots of input on this resort...Hubby thinks they have laid all their dinero into Playa del Sol Grande and letting this one slide but who knows.....either way boils down to poor managment and such......is a no go back forever for me!!!

        I wish you luck....

Amusing but very scary too. I am glad I read it so know where not to go. New management may well be the reason for the resort going down the drain.

I also read your other review about Club Velas Vallarta and it is true that service at their resorts (3) is nothing but excellent. Everyone is so friendly and really wants to please you. We never stayed here yet but visited timeshare friends often at this resort so got in touch with some of the staff and the grounds are well kept and beautiful.

Think I said check out on TA posts by pammex....might be under me bezerk...lots of them..

              Certainly night and day....no comparison.

The nightmare resort was not ugly, just very poorly maintained with many issues etc....

susieq.....I am quite familiar with Mass. Do they now say eh! there, sounds kind of canadian, no. LOL..........

I have family in Mass.....long Mass. story ...anyway too cold for me even in summer LOL..

I had to laugh at your posting here too....yes, you could certainly say I TOLD YOU SO!! LOL

They were in the process of changing when we were there - doing that other exchange club - we thought it was crazy.

Maybe some SFX people need to go to check it out -- I know they go to the Mayan Palaces.

We never do the AI - so we would not be tempted -

might be interesting to see how it is now , compared- we don;t rent a car though, just take the bus down the hill!

then you could maybe say TOLD YOU SO!

We are staying with SFX at the Mayan Palace in PV for 2 weeks in November in a 1 BD.

Yes I suggested SFX check it out...

yes the bus in convenient but we have a car in Mexico so no need to rent, take bus or taxi etc....

I would not really say told you so to you, as I would feel so bad for you....what an experience.

I have never stayed at Mayan Palace in PV, have you? I have stayed at Mayan in NV ( going in Nov), and also Mayan in Mazatlan, and hoping for 2009 Mayan in Acapulco.

I am sure you will have a lovely time in PV in Nov., at Mayan Palace. The weather is great at that time.......We go to PV maybe a total of 6 weeks a year. ( That includes NV sometimes).

Hey at least I am making you laugh!!! I'm actually laughing at the whole ordeal now...guess easy to laugh after it is over....hopefully my Dr. appt. on thurs. shows no other ill effects...like critters, been there done that....
