  • Review: The Fountains

Following is an overview of the review that was added:

The room was brand new and very well appointed! Granite countertops, spacious, clean, perfect! The pool area - wakoola springs - was huge and had it's own water slides. A fantastic stay! I wish we could have stayed longer.

I have a hold on this one - just wondering about the construction and how bad it really is - doesn't sound like it bothered you at all -

I was there in June 08, (a weekend). Never heard any of the construction, although I could see it from my building. (bldg2). It may have been that they don't work on weekends, not sure.

I loved The Fountains, plan on staying for at least a week next summer. Everything about it was great, except the service at the Wakoola Springs Bar & Grill, not so good. I sat there about 20 minutes & no one ever waited on me.

We stayed at the Fountains for 9 days in the middle of July. I would stay there again but I did have several concerns. It felt like every time a cloud would go overhead or there was thunder they would close the pools. They tended not to reopen them if it was late afternoon. The water slides would be closed by late afternoon. I think the latest I saw them open was 6:00 PM. I like the location and the facilities. We are Bluegreen owners and actually own at Oasis Lakes which are the original buildings at the Fountains. All and all a very nice resort and I would highly recommend it.

During the summer in Central Florida, afternoon thunderstorms are almost a daily occurrence. Florida experiences lightning strikes at least 100 days per year. In comparison, California has four or five thunderstorm days per year.
Interstate 4 between Orlando and St. Petersburg is often called lightning alley.

The resort is simply being careful... And with good reason!

all of florida is the lightning capital of the world. I've lived here now for 13 years. The Atlantic ocean has very warm waters as well as the Gulf so yes they are being very careful.
