    New Here!

Hello. I am new here, but was a recipient of JLB's terrific insight on another forum about a year ago while searching for advice on my WPB Florida vacation. Now, I have booked a week at this (Stormy Point) with points through II, and am looking for info on what to expect as far as activities onsite, as well as details on things such as the shuttles to shows, proximity to caves, Dogwood Canyon, etc. I do not care anything about ownership and who is fighting with who because I am simply staying through a uest cert. from my dad. Thanks! Oh, and JLB, I'd be up for a round of golf sometime. We will be there starting the Sunday befors Labor Day.

      Well, Hi Silo.

How's everything up there in Cornfield County? I'm looking forward to having another Iowegian here to raise the intellect and level of common sense, if just for a week.

We can arrange a round of golf, as long as you don't mind playing on a really nice course for owner's rate.

I don't know about Stormy Past Village, but I wouldn't count on shuttles to shows. 99 & 44/100% drive to them. SPV is an easy drive, located fairly close to the west end of the 76 HWY strip.

The 2 caves that are closest are Talking Rocks in Branson West and Marvel Cave in SDC. There is another one not far down into ArkKansas, Cosmic Cavern. It is between Blue Eye and Berryville, not far from Dogwood Canyon, which is not far from us.

If we can work it in, you're welcome to come on out to the Margaritaville Dock and a ride on the BTSRN.

      Happy New Year.

        caves

There is also Fantastic caverns in Springfield, which is a ride through cave. There are frequently discount tickets at Missouri Bargains -- Buy Branson Tickets under entertainment.

Sure, they could check that out on the way down or going back home, it being just off 13 north of Springfield.

There's not much Branson on Missouri Bargains right now, but this is.

Well, everything is just fine up here if you don't mind sub-zero temps, blowing snow, ice storms, and flash flooding. The older I get the more I hate winter.
We will be bringing my in-laws along for the trip, and actually they are "taking" us, I just happened to have the hook-up for the TS to make the trip a little more enjoyable than staying at the Super 8. The mother-in-law wants to take us and the kids to a few shows, and I am sure do SDC and probably the water park one day, but I will definately take you up on the golf. The quality of course is not a concern for me since I have never played on a "Really Nice" course. I promise to try to keep my ball on the hole that we are playing. As for the boat ride, that brings up a question. My pop-in-law wants to bring our boat. I don't think we will have enuff time to use it to make it worth bringing, but do you have any idea of any place close to Stormy Point we could rent a slip and what to expect for a cost? I suspect I will talk him out of bringing it but just in case....Are there any special events for Labor Day?

First, last, I can't recall any special Labor Day events, but feel free to google it and let me know.

I'd offer you a boat slip, but if you will Mapquest the address of Stormy Past Village to Lampe, or Baxter, MO, I suspect you would want it to be closer. However, contact SPV. Early on in their arrival their plan was to purchase the crappy little lakefront resort on down Stormy Point Road, to gain lake access, and it had/has a boat dock.

On Table Rock, slip rental is normally at the marinas at State Park Marina, Indian Point Marina, Kimberling City Marina, Long Creek Marina, Baxter Marina, etc.

In situations like yours it is most common to put it in and out each time you use it, but a nearby slip would be nice, especially if you can hang out on the dock and sip adult beverages, swim, etc. There's just something about adult beverages and running a 250 HP, 5000 pound boat down the lake!!!!

At LedgeStone you don't have to worry about your ball getting on the wrong hole since there are only two parallel fairways. It will be either on the hole you are playing or in the woods/water.

Are you getting in help OY . . . I heard you post this there too?

Hello JLB! Well, it is now summer here in full force. 110 heat index and nasty storms-fun. We are kinda sorta beginning to make some plans for our trip. W are not taking the boat. We have had a few unexpected expenses come up and therefore had to dip into the old vaca fund. So we will have to be a little more selective on our endeavors. May have to pass on the golf as we just may not have room to bring my clubs, but may hafta try and at least get together for a drink or 3.

                  Wow! Talk about a lull in a conversation . . . .

Both of the courses I am affiliated with have rental clubs.

I can't offer free or almost free golf like before cuz I am no longer working at the course where I am a member, and the pro there is a )*%$$&*(*^ so he doesn't comp my golf either. I and my guests pay $49 and that is member's rate.

I took a lot of folks from OY there over the years. )*%$&(*$!!!

I do get golf as a perk where I work, the newest course that is attracting a lot of attention, but my guest rate is kinda steep. I had a group this week and they played for $64, which was lower than I thought it would be.

Been hot here . . . 100-plus heat index. I golfed the last two days then went down to the dock when I got home.
