This is a bit troublesome...we are having a family reunion in Williamsburg in June and we have several units for family at Powhatan...yikes!

There are people here that can advise on units to request that have been refurbed. I have found this management company to be responsive to unit requests if you call 2 weeks prior to check-in.

I like Powhatan. At least the units I've stayed in.

Its "been underway" for a decade

Unfortunately the "much needed renovations" are always "coming soon" and never seem to materialize at this resort. The management has proven to be totally inept over the years, it remains the same group and there is no reason to think that things will change as long as they remain in control. The fees keep going up but the work never seems to happen as promised. Too bad. It could be a decent if not great resort but as it is I would have to put it as the last choice in over-timeshared Williamsburg. Even Wastegate resorts are better and that takes some effort to fall below Wastegate standards.

I get really tired of seeing people trash Powhatan.

We go there at least two weeks a year, we host family reunions there every other year, and we send untold numbers of our friends there.

To date, absolutely NO ONE has ever complained or had anything but praise for the resort. Yes, out of 500 units, some have been renovated more recently than others. Maybe the naysayers above had one of those units. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

By far the majority of us have many wonderful memories because of Powhatan and we LOVE WILLIAMSBURG!

Please, those of you who don't, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I'm trying to be nice, but I've had it up to here so to speak.

I agree with the above post. I do NOT own at Powhatan or DRI but it is our favorite Williamsburg resort. I have stayed at all of them including the Marriott, but it is Powhatan we go to twice a year because we like it so much. We have never had a bad unit and LOVE the grounds and peaceful setting. The renovated units look really nice! We are booked to go again in February. Can't wait.

I had a reunion there over Labor Day 08. Thirty three units occupied, no special requests, nary a complaint.
