Thanks for the so helpful reviews and photos! We've been considering which So Cal resorts to visit with our 2 young children, and seeing all that this resort has for kids now, it is definitely going on our list!

We were here last Sept. with 2 small kids and absolutely loved it! It was very relaxing and central for lots of sights and beaches. The resort is large for sure, but I don't think any of the villas had a "bad" location.

This is a GREAT resort for kids IMHO. If you want to go out for lunch or dinner, you can take the resort shuttle over to Fashion Island Mall, which has a lot of options for meals. I can't list them all off but I know there's a Cheesecake Factory and a Red Robin. Nice open air shopping Mall with fountains, a carousel and a large koy pond.

I have not stayed at this resort, but I did take a tour while in CA, last year. I really like the resort, and it's location. I would stay there in a heart beat.

We have visited 5 times in the last 4 years and love the place.

As of today, I have a week under contract.

Now just have to wait the 3 months or so for it to close.

With the exception of converting the sale center into a restaurant which will happen in ~2011 or 2012, the construction at NCV is done.

The resort has three pool complexs. the main one is central to the resort. Has three big pools and two big hot tubs. Has a snack bar and a new beverage bar ( very nice) most of the main pool area has a full view of the ocean.

Nearest the ocean,( and with trees completely blocking any view) is a pool complex with a large pool and small hot tub.

Farthest up the hill, is the newest pool complex. Smallest of the pools but not small is a lap pool and two hot tubs. The whole pool area has great views and several grills. Lots of seating and also lots of lounge chairs. This is our favorite.

The on site Spa at Newport coast has closed.

Since I'm not a "Spa" guy it doesn't matter to me but it may for some of you.

BUT the Newport area has lots of spas for those of you who love to visit a spa during your vacations.
