  • Review: Wyndham La Belle Maison

Following is an overview of the review that was added:

Nice, new, clean, comfortable. Close to the FQ. A great place to hang your hat in NOLA.

I am so glad you really liked this place Glitter. I need to be down there next May, my first trip ever to NOLA, and this is probably where I will end up.

Lawren, I promise you will be very happy there.

It has been brought to my attention that my review may be a tad taxi-focused... I am a NYer after all

The resort is walking distance to the French Quarter. A longer walk to certain parts, it depends on where you want to go. But NOLA is more than just the FQ, we were going to various places, and I had limited mobility this week due to an injury. There is also public transportation available on Canal Street, a short walk away, but I am not familiar with how efficient or extensive it is as I know it didn't run to the racetrack area where Jazzfest was being held.

Cab from the airport to the resort is a flat $30 each way plus $1 per add'l person. Local cabs in town didn't exceed $10 that I can recall, except for one run. We took a cab to Jazzfest one day, quite a distance, and it was still around $10 due to the flat rate for special events. Note that there is special shuttle bus service for special events, offered at various locations.

If you bring or rent a car, parking is available within a few blocks of the Wyndham, but it's not cheap. And if you're thinking about driving around town, just remember that the bars are open 24/7, and they all provide "to go" cups....
