  • Review: InnSeason Resorts - South Mountain

Following is an overview of the review that was added:

Great place in Central New Hampshire. In the center of town - walk to attractions - very clean and appears entire place has been recently renovated. Now my favorite Lincoln area resort.

I did a walk through a few years ago and thought it was quite nice. I've recommended it and Innseasons Pollard Brook as the best places to stay in the White Mountain area, and they would be my first 2 choices for an exchange there.

      Tony:

Do you (...or any others reading...) have any insights or opinions on the differences (whether good, bad or indifferent) between the Village at Loon Mountain Condos vs. the Village at Loon Mountain Lodges?

There seems to virtually always be space availability at both facilities, but I've never actually visited either one. My only week-long stay in the area was just outside Lincoln, in a mixed use facilty to the west called Deer Park. I'd be interested in any first hand knowledge or observations about either one of the above specified "Village" facilities.

      Thanks in advance...

We stayed there(Village of Loon Mtn) several years ago and it was one of the worst exchanges we've had in New England. The lodges are units in a rectangular design surrounding the amenities and tennis courts. Not all units are timeshare. The condos are seperate buildings on a road away from the main complex. The funny thing was that one of the owners (at the lodges) told me how much better the place was since VRI tok over management. What a ****hole that must have been before. I talked to some folks renting there a couple of years after our stay and from that conversation- things had not shown much improvement. I remember a discussion OY where I said the place was a dump and someone said they owned there and it was nice, but they gave it away.

Since that is an RCI affiliate, I would suggest staying at the Grand Summit in Bartlett, Deer Park or the Mountain Club at Loon if you prefer the Lincoln area and are limited to RCI.

FYI Tony, we've learned through our PB Assessment research that Blue Green may be taking over some aspect of the management/sales of South Mountain.

We have stayed at Village of Loon twice in condo units. The last time was about a year and a half ago (I waiting too long to get anything better - so I took it as a last resort). The entire place was in need of a face lift. The last unit we were in had a water leak from melting snow on the room - dripped all week onto the TV and DVD area. The front desk simply "noted it".

I think the linens were the worst I have ever seen. I think they had been around for 20 years. They were clean - but almost see through since they had so much wear on them. The towels were no better. I will say, upon check-out the manager did mention that he just ordered new linens and towels for the entire resort.

While we were at South Mountain - we met up with another family at a few attractions. They mentioned they really couldn't go in the pool with their daughter because they were so cold. Even the indoor pool was not heated. Strange, because I know they keep their pools open year round.

Like the other poster said - the condo's are along a roadway. They are not close to the main buildings and pool - so it is either a very cold walk to the pools in the winter or a drive in the car.

This is also another reason why I will like South Mountain over Pollard Brook in the winter time - no having to go outside to get to the pool!
