Fantabulous, Beyond Amazing!
We started this vacation at another resort and ended it at Grand Velas. Wow, it is like going to heaven.
Check in was so easy, in the lobby, in comfy chairs with a welcome drink and a courtesy neck, shoulder and head massage. Awesome start! Car and luggage were whisked away by valet and bell men. Easy peasy.
Our luggage was brought to our room which was 534, right in the middle of the building, in a Parlour Suite Plus. You enter from the back, down a short hallway with a closet to the right and a full bathroom with tub and all amenities, mentioned soon. Impressive already, but then you enter the living and dining area with sliders onto a balcony and an all encompassing view of the manicured grounds, pools and right into the ocean. It just makes you smile, continually!
The balcony has two side couches and two chairs with a table between them. A small slice of heaven with that view.
The living area has a table for 4, which was topped with a vase full of pink roses and lilies, the most beautiful bouquet I have ever seen of roses in
Mexico. A wall size mirror, a couch with coffee table, large screen tv, complimentary bottle of tequila, bar and snack bar with mini frig., stocked as you choose. We had water, soda, creamer for the coffee pods, beer and juice. Oh yes, water and wine. The refrigerator and snack basket are refilled daily when you have the maid clean your room, you can choose the time for that and turn down service. Our maid was a gem. This whole area was very spacious and roomy. You could certainly fit 2 children on the pull out couch and have plenty of room for 4.
The bedroom was to the right as you enter the Living room. It has louvered shutters to open unto living room if you desire. It had 2 queen beds a night stand with draws, a dresser, large screen tv, a large sized safe, the infamous scale which we never used, hehe, a hair dryer, iron and board, shower cap, sewing kit, robes to use and even slippers. Plus a beach bag to use for pool or beach. Off the bedroom was another full bathroom. Also having all the amenities like a light up make up mirror, shower gel ,shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, razor and shaving cream, toothpaste and toothbrush, make up remover pads, q-tips, you name it the room had it, or they brought it. They have new earth friendly amenities in refillable containers, quite fancy pump bottle look as well from
London. Saves on plastic use and a lovely improvement to boot. My husband likes bar soap and there was not any only shower gel, so we asked and yes it appeared in our room that night.
The grounds are stunning, walkways amazing, Koi ponds, flowers, 3 pools (plus a kiddies pool), all leading to the infinity pool overlooking the ocean. A swim up bar with a palapa roof, and adults only area with special Jacuzzi pool of its own. Plenty of loungers or cabanas. Plush pool towels, sun screen located around pool. Wait service which was attentive and amazing. We had Stephanie most days and she was just the best waitress.
There is a gym onsite, a world class spa, and a luxury boutique. Plus 4 evening restaurants, a poolside buffet or sit down restaurant, snack/lunch restaurant, teens club, kids club and well, everything you can imagine.
We ate ocean side at Azul, the buffet, unlike any other All Inclusive resort buffet, our first day. It has amazing food choices, even rack of lamb, and the waiters are attentive but not obtrusive, carry your plates for you to your table or you can order off the menu, serve your drinks and just make you feel so welcome. Fidel the captain was overseeing it all when we were there. It was a lovely, filling and relaxing lunch hearing the waves crash and watching the ocean views. The perfect buffet or sit down lunch.
Chepe ( Jose) was our concierge for the week and he made sure we had turn down when we wanted, maid service at a certain hour, made our reservations for dinners, anything we requested he made happen. Fabiola, the chief concierge oversees them all and she is right on top of things even before our arrival. I always email to let them know what I like.
We spent our days enjoying the pool and ocean at times. Eating, drinking and being pampered. The staff even moves the umbrellas as the sun moves depending if you want shade or sun. Top that! The sunsets were enjoyed on our balcony.
Our nights, we dined on amazing food from their assortment of restaurants, Piaf ( French),
Lucca ( Italian), Sen Lin ( Japanese) and Frida ( Mexican Gourmet). We had all kinds of specialty drinks like Pomegranate Martinis, Mango with tajin rimmed Margaritas, Hibiscus and Sake , Passion Fruit and Hibiscus Flower Margaritas, Angel Foam Martini, variety of beers and sparkling waters, Liquor 43 on the rocks, Zambucka Negro, Citronella special drink, to name a few.
Foods such as Salmon with caviar, Shrimp with Red Wine Risotto & White Champagne, fruit compote, Bourguignon Short Rib, Fish Tacos, Ceasar Salads, Buffalo Wings, Shrimp Burritos, Khan Phad, Fideos Lo Mein with shrimp, Green papaya salad, Sushami with Serrano chile, Tableside Guacamole, shrimp cocktail, Fig salad, Tuna Tiradito, Zucchini Flower cream soup, Chicken dishes, Soft shelled crab tacos, Octopus tacos and Campechino tacos, Mixed Seafood Cocktail, Hamburgers that were just amazing and Insalda de Pomodoro with smoked salmon, Fried squid, Wild Mushroom cream soup, Beef Filet, Lamb Filet, Duck Pate, Escargot, Rack of Lamb, and varieties of breads to name a few. Yes, of course we gained some weight.
Desserts ran the gamut from Sorbets to Gran Marnier Souffle, Banana Tempora with coconut Ice cream and honey agave, Chocolate Sensation with Oreo Cookie Ice cream, Appel Tart, Churros, Turamisu, Pistachio Gelato, and Homemade chocolates delivered to our room, wow!
Not only was each and every food amazing, cooked perfectly and delivered in an amazing presentation but the service was above and beyond what one could expect!
Every night each restaurant had some sort of live music and the terrace outdoor bar had some amazing band, plus of course they have music in Koi Bar. It was too cold in there from the AC for me, which actually worked out best as the bands outdoors were just fantastic.
Our last morning we had room service breakfast and it was fit for royalty, only bad part was it meant we were leaving.
So to sum it up, this is a resort of 5 star character, food, amenities and service. To just call it another All Inclusive would be so wrong. It is like no other all inclusive. It bundles every need for anyone's tastes in one place. It truly is as they say Beyond Compare. We are already looking at what dates to book next years return trip. Try it you will love it.
