  • Buying Wyndham Points Resale Question

Let me first start out by saying I know that I need to do more research before buying ANYTHING!!! Anyways, my mother in law owns points through Wyndham and we have been to a few resort through her ownership. My wife and I have been to the presentations and have almost bought points through the developer. I really like this system, however I really do not want to pay an outrageous amount of money for a minimal amount of points. With that being said, I am looking at the resale market. My first question is if I were to buy Wyndham points resale, would I still be able to use them at any Wyndham location as my mother in law does, or would I be locked into the resort that I bought them at? I also wonder if I could call Wyndham and ask them questions about buying their points off the resale market, but I would imagine they would frown upon this. Thank you for your help, and I apologize if this has been posted.

Points are points with Wyndham. Resale points work the same as developer points at all of the resorts. The only difference is that resale points do not count toward VIP status and that is NOT worth the price difference.

When looking at resale contracts, the home resort can make a difference in the amount of mantenance fee (MF) you pay and your Advance Reservation Period (ARP). ARP is the ability to book at your home resort 13-10 months in advance of other Wyndham owners. Everyone else can book at 10 months out. At most resorts ARP is not needed unless you often need 3 or 4 BR Presidential units or Race Week at Daytona.

Good luck with your search. Take your time and wait for the contract that is right for you.

Vicki gave you some VERY important advice - it matters WHERE your points are deeded as it relates to the maint fees you will pay every year.

There is a Wyndham Owners forum that has a lot of information and the historic maint fees.

I apologize that it has taken me so long to respond. Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. I have been looking into which ones have the lowest maintenance fees (generally less desirable locations) and wanted to make sure I could still be able to use different properties. I am going to peruse the link you gave and see what I can come up with. Thank you both again!

          Wyndham Points

I just joined this sight to find an avenue to part with my Wyndham Timeshare (points, 84000/yr). I came across your post and thought I would contact you. I will be posting my information in the Bargain area shortly.

Where is your timeshare located and why are you getting rid of it? We still haven't decided when we are going to buy, but we are pretty sure that we will do the points from Wyndham.

Our location is the Wyndham Palm Aire in Pompano Beach. Maint fees are $44/mo. Due to career changes and other $$ concerns, it isn't being utilized so if we can find someone that can, we would love to pass it along.
