  • Bought points off ebay - when to worry?

I bought points off of a seller on ebay. The transaction was paid for on 2/18. I was told at that point 2-3 weeks for a copy of the deed. ie; 3/11. When I e-mailed them on 3/16, and they said they would double check everything on Tuesday, which was 3/22. As of today, still nothing. I e-mailed them today and haven't received a response yet.

I'm not sure if I should be worried that this isn't legit, or what exactly is going on. Can anyone tell me their experience with an ebay purchase?

I signed the contract electronically. I have a copy saved on my computer. But no copy of an actual deed. Is there a way to check with Wyndham to see if they've received anything on their end?

You can call the resort directly and ask if they've recieved anything...which resort did you buy at?

The resort itself will not receive anything. If you can find out the county that the resort is located in, you can often look up county deed records online to see if the deed has been recorded yet in your name. If it has, you should soon be receiving your copy with a copy being sent to Wyndham title department. It may still take Wyndham 2-4 months to process the ownership transfer after they receive the deed. Not sure how long they have been taking lately.

Good luck and welcome to Wyndham!

Thanks. They are at the Ocean Ridge resort in SC. I just checked online with the county deeds, and there's no records matching my name. Should I check with Wyndham? The company usually e-mails me back the same day, and I still haven't heard anything.

I know that doesn't mean anything, they could be busy today. I'm just getting worried that I got scammed or something.

          to TS4Ms

What ebay seller did u purchase from?
Did you do a Google search of the sellers' ebay name?

Did u say you have a copy of the previous deed? because u could also search for that....

Some ebay sellers are MUCH quicker then others and as Vicki said, Wyndham will take 2-4 months to acknowledge u - they are not very helpful to resale owners but will confirm with you over the phone when they receive the deed from the closing company.
it then takes 8-12-16 weeks to be recognized as an owner.

          Hang in there!

            ...a little too early?

            cynnabunn,
2 to 3 weeks for a copy of the deed to be recorded is pretty aggressive. We've purchased numerous timeshares over the past year, and I don't think a deed has ever cleared a county in less than 4-1/2 weeks (regardless or what the closing company thought). Glancing back over the emails from the closign companies for these properties, I'd estimate that 6 to 8 weeks for a deed to be delivered is about average. However, we did have one for Seviere County TN that took ~14 weeks from the time the deed was submitted.

Times are tough and many counties are overloaded with deeds right now. A lot of the influx has come from HOAs pursuing florclousures from defaults on MF. In addition, PCC's have also created a huge amount of volume in areas where there are a lot of TSs (Orlando, LV, MB, etc). Lastly, some of the counties have had to cut back on staff in recording offices because of budget problems.

So, I don't think I'd worry right now if the closing company is reputable.
            ...just some thoughts.

Having purchased a several contracts off eBay I would not worry to much, but keep on top of them. Of mine the longest took 6 months, and that is because things went sideways when the closing company screwed up. Most of mine have taken 2 to 3 months, with the shortest being my initial Shell transfer.

I wouldnt worry. Timeshare transfers differ per ownership, and the norm is around 3 months to complete
