  • Donations On Line

    Hi everyone;

I am much pleased to find a forum such as this one! I am in the process of trying to donate my timeshare and I've already picked up a tip or two from here.

The only question that I would like to ask is if anyone is familiar with Donations Online.

They are not asking for money up front. They have sent me a form to fill out so they can talk to Wyndham and they said if I have to pay for closing; they will bill me after the transfer is complete.

The lady I spoke with on the phone said if there was not a charity who would take it, then their broker would take it. I just sent off an email asking her to verify that if the broker takes it, my name will be removed from the deed. I will update with an answer when I get one. So far, they have been very forthcoming and I have hope for the first time in years that I can finally get out of this timeshare!

So, I'm just looking to see if anyone has had any experience good or bad.

    ...something isn't right

That website you referenced is nothing more than a sponsored link web portal, that takes you to other websites. It makes money by driving web traffic to it's site, and makes even more when someone clicks on the links.

By the way, it's not uncommon for 1st time posters on a forum to make a post that drives traffic to one of these sites. So I have to wonder....

So unless you got it wrong, I would be very leary of them.

I originally called the number listed on the website and this saleswoman called me back. I think she is part of Timeshare Angels. I have also checked around on Timeshare Angels and can find no significant derogatory information.

Like I said, the initial website you referenced is only a bunch of paid links to other websites. But, I couldn't see where that 'angle' website came up anywhere when I checked again. So I have serious doubts on this whole topic, and what your real intent is (and especially after reading your followup post).

As far as the angle website, you need to do more homework and searches on Google and Yahoo. There have been some complaints, and that company comes in a couple different locations and spin-off names (including selling/and other TS business). I believe I also saw a post on this site and TUG that discussed it. [Oh Yeah, they may or may not be BBB affiliated; depending on the location you are looking at; but BBB membership is purchased and doesn't really mean much anyway.]

No angles here. I am trying to donate my timeshare and I don't want to dig myself in deeper. I saw the poll posted about folks who thought they got rid of their timeshare and still ended up owning the property.

So, I guess the first question I have for this person when their office opens is just exactly who is she representing. I did indeed get the impression that there are several spin offs associated with this organization. But, the representative (maybe a better word than salesperson) signs off her emails with donationsonline

She did indeed tell me on the phone that they have a good BBB rating. Yeah...doesn't mean much, but at least I am not finding Timeshare Angels listed as a scam or a fraud so far.

I will try to get more specific information. I will update here whatever responses I get

Thank you for your prompt responses. It's good to have an open line of communication going somewhere. Eases my pain a little.

Please do not post the website again. It is simply a link page with no actual content.

Timeshare Angels is a California based company owned by Tamer Mamou. He has a long history of buying and selling Worldmark memberships. Over the years, brokerages I've worked with have likely sold him more than a thousand ownerships.

I have no experience with him as anything other than a direct buyer, however.

            Good luck.

No problem. It is good to simply know that this company has a long history. I can appreciate that you are not in the position to recommend or not recommend them.

But, so far your website has been very valuable in prompting me to start asking them the right questions.

Also, if this doesn't work out for me, I see some other alternatives that I would be interested in finding out more about. I'm not in this thing up to my neck, I just dont use it anymore. I own the deed free and clear.

Check our classifieds, there is an ad for getting rid of a timeshare there where fees are only charged when the transaction is complete.

Thanks Tonya...I have some leg work to do with my local IRS office before this goes much further. But, I will check it out.
