  • help? i need to sell.

We bought an ILX timeshare, which then was bought out by Diamond Resorts. I am so confused by the switch over, and our fees are just too high to justify keeping it on my husband's teacher salary. We'd like to sell it, but every company I've found requires a fee upfront.
It's 3000 point/yr and it's deeded (I assume that didn't change with the buyout, I still have the deed) our home resort is in Sedona, AZ. My account "level" says 'valued club member' and my 'type' is 'premiere club connection'. I have no idea what any of that means.

I've noticed in this forum a mention of 'valuable' or 'unvaluable' timeshares. How do i know if mine is valuable, how much it's worth, and where should I sell it? What are the steps to selling it? I hate wasting money, so I'd rather educate myself and do what I can than pay someone else to do it, plus money is tight.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

Use google to see what others are asking, not that asking can be equated to selling, but it's a barometer.

After pricing it, if you can, try using free sites such as craigslist.

Generally speaking, there is not much market for timeshares right now.

I tried craigslist, all i got were companies responding who wanted me to pay them upfront. does anyone know of a reputable company who takes a small fee to sell it, after the sale? I'd be willing to go that route if i had to.

I think alltimeshare takes their cut when it is sold. Don't list with any of the ones who money up front. They just want the first payout and won't help you sell.

There is no expected resale value for that point total.. I currently have a liquidation listing for 18,000 annual points that I have not yet been able to give away. DRI values are virtually non-existent like many other timeshare brands.

Focus your attention on trying to give it away if you are sure you can no longer get any usage from it.. You can post it in the freebies section of this site by clicking HERE.. You will also want to spend time in the Diamond section, as there are various resale restrictions that you will need to be aware of before beginning the transfer process..

As stated earlier, DO NOT pay any type of upfront listing fee.

As I recently said, but feel it's worth repeating, no matter how enamored one may now be with their timeshares, everyone will want or need to get rid of it/them someday.
