  • Deed transfer help with RCI Points.

I have an RCI points week that I want to give to my cousin.
Do you guys know how I do this?

I don't want to cancel my RCI points account because I want to buy a replacement so how do I do this? Do I need to buy the replacement week before I give him the points week? Or does it not really matter.

    Thanks.

You record the deed into your cousin's name and file it with the appropraite county.

Once deed is recorded, you attach a copy to RCI's MTA form (Membership Transfer Agreement form). Fill out the section that pertains to transfering the deeded week to Mr. XYZ (and any associated points if there are any). If your cousin also has to open a new RCI account he/you can do that with the same form - just attach the check.

People have said that it makes them real nervous to do this stuff as the form to tranfer is the same as to totally close the account so they've written all over the form outlining EXACTLY what they want to happen and then call RCI multiple times once the form is submitted to 'walk it thru' so there's less chance of a mistake happening.

Check with your resort to see if they will allow the rci membership to transfer.. Get the "yes" in writing in case the developer tries to bully your buyer into a "reconversion" fee.

Thanks. You make it sound so simple.

Hopefully they won't care. They didn't care when I bought it resale.
It's Vacation Village at parkway. I hope they don't care. They got enough problems already.

The Berkley Group has been very inconsistent in how they have treated rci point transfer requests.. Whether this is intentional, or just an issue of poor employee training and/or communication I cannot say. Also, I do not know if the inconsistency is targeting resale brokers only, or has also impacted individual by-owner sales as well. So far, I've been told of two transactions where the rci account transfer was declined and both occurred at Parkway (it's a common rci pt resale due to the high number of points allocated).

Berkley's "reconversion" fee has been quoted to me as $2,300. unless the new owner purchases a small interest directly from them, at which point they "roll in" the other applicable ownerships. I'm also aware of numerous rci point contracts that have been transferred successfully without any type of fee being charged to the buyer.

My attempted research (ie calling resort and rci personnel to try to find out what makes the difference in these transfers) failed miserably.. One Berkley employee "guessed" that it may involve if the ownership was originally purchased as weeks or as points, but admitted that this thought was only a guess. I was told (twice) that the employee I spoke with would request the "person" who makes these decisions contact me.. I'm still waiting!

Calling RCI was, as usual, a huge waste of time. Reps there stated that the accounts could all be transferred- and went into the same transfer process as described in this thread. Only at the end of which, when questioned- admitted that the final OK on enrollment comes from the developer...

RCI points transfer is (to me at least) one of the most frustrating aspects of ownership transfers, simply because there is so very little transparency in the process and so much deceptive propaganda that appears to be fostered by developers to grab a few more dollars and disrupt potential resales.

So my cousin lives in the Dominican Republic. Do you think that RCI will allow him to own RCI points? They won't have a US address unless I use mine for them. He really wants my RCI points account and I want to give it to him but only if he can really use the points and not get screwed because he's an international buyer. Would he see the US inventory like Americans do or do they have an RCI for the caribbean like they do for Europe and Australia?
