  • What info should you give to potential buyer?

Hi, and thanks in advance for anyfeedback/info. I'm trying to sell my Timeshare. I received this inquiry....

Message: We are interested in your timeshare. Would you provide me with your timeshare account number at Sunset so I can verify all details with the resort?

This set off red flags with me. Is this a normal and legitimate request from a buyer???

    Thanks

    Greg

I can't imagine your resort giving out information to anyone who calls with your account number. I wouldn't respond.

No.. Seems a little odd but timeshares have a way of attracting the "crazies"...

Normally, the seller will advertise the property.
The buyer will make an offer.
A purchase contract which details the property and terms of the sale is signed.
The closing agent verifies the property info and financial status prior to closing.

When I have a buyer who is convinced the only way they'll move forward is to "verify" with the resort themselves, sometimes I'll simply ask the seller to agree to a "conference call" with owner services at the resort. That way, the buyer can ask their questions, and the seller does not have to release any specific information (the buyer is brought into the call after the seller verifies their personal info with the resort).

Great idea on the conference call! I'll respond to that effect. Thanks folks.
