  • Anyone else mourn their sale of their TS?

I feel like such a Goober. I found a buyer for my Capistrano and we both filled out the online forms for the closing company tonight. I know I should be happy, but I am mourning my TS.

My husband can't stand that beach and he really would not enjoy every staying there. I know it is the right thing to let it go, especially since JLB has scared me with not being able to trade out of my home resort. I am sure I will be happier when it is time to pay next year's MFs and I won't get a bill.

I mourned the first love TS that I owned, that I finally gave away last year.
Wouldn't you know that just when I finally figure out how to get decent trades with the thing in II, I give it away.

Of course I went right out and replaced it with a higher MF with CMV UDI that trades way better than my first love.

It's a severe addiction and hanging out on these forums doesn't help.

      I should be what, honored?

We have 6 weeks we want to get rid of (hey, that's news, huh?), but how can I do that with a clear conscience?

I know that does not bother most folks, they are just happy to get rid of them, the same mentality as developers.

I never mourned the sale of any of the 12 I sold, but my wife really liked the two weeks back to back in a second floor beachfront Cancan Royal. I kinda miss the two ground floor beachfront units at the Royal Mayan, but I can always trade in and maybe get lucky. Hard to miss the 5 I never stayed at. Sure don't miss the high and getting higher annual costs.

Yeah it's so much better to just moan and groan about how miserable you are. That's it, a TS martyr going to the grave with the MF bills in your hand. Sacrificing for the good of all mankind.

Not like us happy people who actually gave away weeks to people who are grateful to be introduced to TSing and keeping the evil empire strong.

I recently sold my last Foxrun/Fairway of the Mountains week - went to a good home and I know the people who bought it will put it to good use. But I feel kinda sad as I have owner there since 2003 and have gotten a lot of nice trips out of that ownership.

The only thing had is a little better than a CMV Cottage UDI is a CMV Oak Timbers UDI. You ca get great great value out of your CMV Cottage UDI. It will if used properly give the most bang for your buck.

In regards to your "t's it, a TS martyr going to the grave with the MF bills in your hand" we have reduced our ownerships in the last 2 years from 32 to 24 so my wife would not be burdened down the road. We would have been down to 22 but we bought another Rushes in door County Wi. and a Lagunga Surf in California.

We plan to hold on to maybe 3 of our 8 CMV Oak Timbers UDI's and maybe 2 or 3 other timeshare shares. So in 2 years in this market we got to about 30% of our goals.

We traded in two resorts and sold one too. We liked them all but are not sorry. We can visit them all again and have done it several times already with one of them (MDS-I). We are heading there again pretty soon with an exchange.

Right now, renting is cheaper than owning!

We are buying a house in Woodstock - an opportunity came up that we can't pass up. Because of that, I suspect that we will be going on fewer timeshare vacations - I already have two weeks in the Berkshires booked for the summer that we may or may not use now, so I know that I need to get rid of some timeshares. Fact is, I'm just not ready lol!

We may end up renting the house and using the timeshares! How crazy is that?

                    Congrats Holly!

It would be great if you could keep the timeshares, and either rent them, or the house out to help cover the cost. Not sure if that would work for you tho....Tough choice!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I sold the 2nd timeshare I ever bought a few years ago. Right up to signing I was hemming and hawing in my mind - and for quite a while afterward I sorta regreted selling.

But... I just got back last night from spending the week at that resort - in a better unit than I owned for less than MFs - thru a RCI Points exchange.

I think I may finally be over regretting the sale

Yes, I think I will have a similar experience. I was just at the resort next to the resort I sold on a lifestyle week from SFX. Huge, newly remodeled room with ocean view out of the living room and bedroom. If I can exchange back easily (and I think I can), I will have nothing to fuss about.

Plus, the buyer and I have emailed back and forth enough that I like them a lot. So, I feel like I am setting them up for a great beach vacation and that they are nice and grateful people. For me, that has made me much happier to let it go.

We bought another unit at the Ridge Tahoe in 2007 even year in the Tower building where we owned when it was first built years ago. Reason was we owned the Naegle and found we wouldn't exchange because we love Lake Tahoe. With every other year we could stay in Naegle units July 4th week and exchange it on even years and use our Tower unit.
2010 we sold our Naegle unit to another Ridge owner while up for July 4th because it was just to large for the two of us with our daughter moving to Texas. We find that come vacation and we are in Dallas with DD. While the buyers were handing us the money my wife still was having second thoughts on selling it.

Now we have the Tower for Aug this year and she isn't that excited on us going up for seven days just the two of us. Said we already spend all year together and wants to go to Texas again.

We left II after being down to just the Tower unit because we don't plan on exchanging and playing that game again. Now she talks about maybe we should sell the Tower unit and just go up like we did for years for couple days at a time and enjoy the HOTELS/CASINO where we get comped both Tahoe and Reno.

We miss the Neagle unit talked about in last post because we spent every July 4th week there for many years. We had a family e-mail us through the Tug site few weeks ago who were staying in the Tower. They love the resort and wanted to know if we would sell our unit to them because of seeing post helping others with information on our resort for years.
I said because our daughter was few months from having their first child a girl that we were thinking of selling the last unit we had so we could go to Texas to visit more. We listed it with the Resort but they were only selling in points now so not much money. Like us this family only wanted deed property so we talked when they went home.
They bought our unit and our resort that has worked with use many times renting even filled out the paper work. By the resort helping it cost us almost nothing and the buyers only had to pay about $23.00 for all transferring fee's. This is how things work when you own at a nice resort that is owner friendly like The Ridge Tahoe.
We have owned five units there since late 80 's and will miss it and it will hit next July 4th when we are not there.
