  • Upcoming trip to SF is a Whoo-Hoo!!!

I think I have finished making all the reservations I need for tours and even left in a little breathing room ( altho very little) I decided to buy the Go San Francisco card as there are many things I want to do on there and if there is something I go to that I don't really care for I can take some pics, leave, & go somewhere else. I have rented a 35 lb portable mobility scooter from scootanywhere.com . It looks amazing This thing will even fold up and fit in the trunk. Plus the owner is driving up from Reno and meeting me at the SFO airport and taking me to the Inn at the Opera & showing Kelli & me how to put it together and take apart. Now that's what I call service!!! ( I think he will get some free publicity after this trip, esp if I like it) It doesn't look as comfortable as the big ones but if it does what I want I'll be a happy camper.

Here are my plans. Once we are settled in we will head to the market place/cable after having a nice lunch we will head over to Mr Toad where we have a nighttime tour of San Francisco. Now that's what I call a start . I'm sure we will be jet lagged by then so back to the hacienda for a well deserved rest.

Sun: Back to the wharf for a Bay Cruise and the Aquarium . Tonight we have ressies for the night tour of Alcatraz. (Happy Mom's Day)

Mon: A day tour of SF & Muier Woods with Dylan Tours
Tues: Probably Golden Gate Park & other things. This is a free day. No ressies.
Wed: All day tour of Monterry & Carmel with GrayLine Tours ( Got a great
    deal using SF Go Card)
THurs: Ressies at 10AM for a tour of Chinatown with Linda's tour with lunch
then free to do whatever. Maybe hop on the cable car to Lombard St.
Fri: Free time . I do have to make ressies for Beach Baby Baylon. It's too soon
to get half/price tix at Goldstar

I will do a lot of other things in my "free days" . After all, I do have to leave time to meet anyone here who wants to get together.

    More to come!! shaggy

You know that the cable cars are not handicap accessible, right? They don't have to be due to a quirk in the law.

Shaggy - If you get a chance, take a ferry ride to Tiburon or Sausalito. Absolute stunning beauty.

Take a walk along the Embarcadero from pier 39 in Fisherman's Wharf to the Bay Bridge. One of the most beautiful walks in the city.

When in China Town, also take a walk through North Beach, the Italian quarter, which is right next to China Town.

Also... the Palace of Fine arts and the De Young Museum are two outstanding places to visit. The De Young Museum is in Gold Gate park and is world-class.

Hope this helps... and you will have a great time!

Fern, I know the cable cars are not accessible. I think I'm going to buy a chain and lock it to the bicycle racks. Do you know if the racks are convenient to the cable cars?

Mark, thanks for the tips. I plan on doing it ALL !!!!! shaggy

I'd ask the owners of the scooter what they think about your locking it to a bicycle rack. If it were me I'd worry that it might be damaged, somebody might figure out how to take it for a ride, sit on it as a waiting place, etc.

I agree with Fern. If you leave it chained to a post, you don't have it with you so why not leave it home? How far away is your condo from the cable car?

Have a wonderful trip, Shaggy. I hope for you that the weather cooperates too.
