  • Back from San Francisco

This was a combo Northern California trip.

We stayed at Worldmark Windsor for 3 nights and then Worldmark SF for 4 nights.

We traveled to Windsor for a family reunion over 4th of July in Sebastopol. Weather was great. My husband and son won the family horseshoe contest-so that was fun. I was a contender for the horses "rear end" trophy in the loser's bracket-but alas, I did not come home with the trophy.

We had a 2b/2ba condo at WM. Corner Unit overlooking one of the hot tubs on site. My family members had the same but mid building over looking the pool. Though we had the same units-theirs was larger. Maybe because we had the corner?

Resort was full and busy with lots of families. That was fine with us-we mainly used it as a base for seeing family outside of Windsor. Parking was never a problem even though it was busy.

    ***************

WM SF. I really liked this "resort" Great location on Bush St. just down the street from the entrance to Chinatown. A city location of course-I found the staff really went out of their way to help you with ANYTHING. It was refreshing. Even though it is a t/s-I felt like every employee was your own personal concierge-always helpful and smiling. When we checked in and they saw how large our group was-a gentlemen at the desk called me over and asked if I would like to have 5 City Passes. Would I??? YES! Another family had checked out and didn't use but one ticket from them. It also included the 7 day MUNI pass which included the cable cars. (Cable cars are 5 dollars each way) I could have hugged him.

There were 8 of us total. We each had a 1 bd 2ba unit. Ours was on the top floor (9th) The elevator only goes to the 8th and then you walk the small flight of stairs to the top. I chose the top floor because previously they had put two beds in the unit instead of 1bd and a sleep sofa. This isn't the case anymore-so if you own WM and expect that-don't! My family members were on the 7th floor. Their unit was the same but once again bigger. Their guest bath was HUGE!!! especially for a city unit. My DH finally whispered to me-how is it we booked everything and yet THEY get the bigger units?

We spent a total of 3 1/2 days in the city and hold on to your hats because this is what we did:

    Alcatraz

    Dylans City Tour-

Thanks Shaggy~! Dylan was fun. There were 8 of us and no one else that day-so we basically had a private tour. We would have never covered that much ground in one day. Was great.

    Muir Woods

    (included in the City tour)

Biked across the Golden Gate Bridge

Went to an A's vs Yankees game in Oakland.

    Bay Cruise

Road the Cable Car up and down..just because we could..with the City Passes

Shopping. Daughter was in heaven. She keep saying, I HAVE to go in this one or that one because we don't have these stores in the desert. I have to admit though-Bloomingdales scared her-she made a u turn after a quick step inside. Too funny.

Had a couple good meals. Good drinks. Lot's of walking. Great time.

    What a great trip.

I love San Francisco. It's such a fun city with so many things to do and see. My last trip I stayed at the Donatello, just a 4 or 5 blocks from the WM and Union Square. I too had a City Pass. What a great deal it provides.

    Thanks for sharing.

I have sent my parents there and one of the TS4M ladies (maybe u?) got my DD a unit there - so I think it is time that I get there myself.

              Go! Go!

              Funny.

My family likes the tropical/beach vacation BUT they really love the cities too. One of our best vacations was NYC and SF is probably a close second. It's just so busy and alive (well, you both know that but it's not the norm for us)

I showed DD WM Vancouver (city) online. I want to do Seattle, Victoria, and Vancouver. The windows of The Canandian looking out over the city...she was impressed. An easy sell

Sounds like you had a wonderful time!! Glad you liked Dylan. I'd hate to recommend someone and didn't like it, altho I wasn't worried as he is totally the best!! BTW, did he remember me & Kelli? or you may have forgotten to say hi from me. It's ok, either way. I'm just glad you liked the tour and had a great time. shaggy

San Francisco is special so you will enjoy it, Pat. It always reminds me of Lausanne in Switzerland as it is built on several hills too with a spectacular view over the water. It's a lively city just like NYC and I always feel the same when we are in Honolulu too. It's a special feeling and you want to be part of it. There are other cities like that too but I won't mention them all.

SF can be very cold and windy.

PS. StressCadet, I am so glad that you had a terrific vacation.

It was too bad you didn't get to a Giants game. It is the nicest ball park in the country. We have been to many ball parks across the country and none compares to AT&T park. We have seen many games at both AT&T and Oakland.

Well....when you are a Yankees fan, you do what you gotta do. WAY cheaper than seeing them in Anaheim.

AND it was 1.00 hot dog night....
