Just went to a presentation at the Embassy at Ka'anapali. The place was beautiful. But the saleswoman was an interesting character. I told her that I got to Maui (Kahana Falls, not Embassy) on a TS I'd bought for $600 that gets me 2 bonus weeks. Since it was in FL, she told me that was all it was worth so I paid what I should have. I told her that the previous owners took out an $8000 mortgage when they bought it. She said that a 2 BR condo near Disney should only have gone for $26,000 to $36,000 for the whole year so why would anyone pay $8000 for a week. She was clearly annoyed with me and tried to belittle what I already own. She just wasn't going to acknowledge that I got a pretty good deal, like they did at other timeshare presentations, and let it go.
We ended up not buying - a conclusion before we ever went in. But I must admit it is a lovely place. Maybe I'll use one of my bonus weeks to go there next time. :-) They did pay $150 towards our snorkeling trip and fed us lunch so I felt it was worth it to talk to her for a little while.
