  • Myrtle Bch Christmas Shows, 2011

Spending this week at tower 3, Wyndham Ocean Blvd.

Have enjoyed CHRISTMAS ON ICE at the Palace, CHRISTMAS at Alabama Theater, and CHRISTMAS at the Carolina Opre. We thought ON ICE was pretty good till Alabama's. WOW, what a presentation! Last night at Carolina's we were a little disapointed. It was real good, but more a Grand Ole Opre show till last half.

For those going to MB this season... If you can take in only one show, I recommend Alabama's.

Robert, didn't know you were in MB. Be sure to go around the corner to Hoskins/ Lunch is really good, good home cooking, they don't do this at night. They don't have the best atmosphere so I don't like spending a bunch of money for seafood with no atmosphere. Across the street try Duffy's Seafood Shack for wonderful crab cakes, although kept them sautee/grilled instead of fried. Pizza, try Giorgios's . These are all on main street just around the corner from you.

Oh yeah, Mr Fish, shrimp or sushi. Mrs Fish , oysters!!!

Glad you liked Alabama xmas show. It's always good.

I often find people don't read all boards.
Try Southeast Atlantic r whateverincludes Sout Carolina.
Sometimes ou have to ask on Fraks Tub. Don't give up.
Lots of folk go to MB. Even in Off Season.
Enjoy your children for something to do.
For internet you may need to use the lobby.

Glad you liked the Sea Captains House. It has been there forever. I hate to recommend a place and then they don't like it, but I'm pretty good at restaurants/food (as you know) Hugs to you & Carol

Sorry I missed your original post. I'm usually the go to person on MB. The weather at that time can be iffy. Usually it will be warm enough to walk on the beach tho. There has been snow before which is really freaky. It is a kids paradise in the summer altho I bet I can figure out some things to do with the kids. Call Seawatch and see what activities they have for kids at that time of year.

One thing I think they would like is going to the different xmas shows. I like ONE at the Alabama Theater at Barefoot Landing. Also at Barefoot they have a alligater show which all the kids love. You can go shopping and walk around there. Also another big shopping area/ restaurant area is Broadway at the Beach. Lots of good restaurants there.

MB does a light display that should be pretty. IT will be all lit up.

Since you will be there a while I'm recommending that you drive into Wilmington and see the Battleship. All kids like that. There will also be lights at Airilee Gardens. The historic area is really nice.

Check with the tourism dept and find out when the boat flotillas are. There is usually one at Murrill's Inlet and there is one in Wilmington. If you are lucky you can do it the day you do the battleship.

There are tons of shows, Alabama Theater, Carolina Opry, Legends in Concert, and I almost forgot that they replaced Dixie Stampede with a pirate show/dinner that the kids would like.

Food: My fav is Hoskins on Main St , NMB At lunch they have home cooking, don't go at night. Mostly seafood and they don't have atmosphere. I like dumpy holes in the wall like Mrs Fish & Mr. Fish but I think you need to go see Hard Rock. It's shaped like a pyramid. It's at Broadway at the Beach.

Lots & lots of miniature golf. I think MB has the most putt putt courses in he world.

There is also a Wonderworks and a huge ferris wheel at the Pavillion.

This should keep you busy. Enjoy yourself. Shaggy

                    Dear Shaggy,
Thank you so much for the detailed answer.
We will defenitely do Willmington .
These are the kind of firts hand ideas that I was hoping to get from someone, who was there already.
Weather wise, it is good to know, that it is kind of -could be anything- kind....
I thought it is more spring like there in the winter...but if we can take a walk on the beach a few times, I am happy.
                    Thanks, again.

As I said in original post:
"Have enjoyed CHRISTMAS ON ICE at the Palace, CHRISTMAS at Alabama Theater, and CHRISTMAS at the Carolina Opry. We thought ON ICE was pretty good till Alabama's. To do it again, I'd do Alabama and forget the other two. Your children would enjoy it. It runs over two hours with a long intermssion.

Expect chilly winds. Prepare for that and hope for Summer.
                        Robert
