    Not one thing in particular

We will collect a variety of things. I will collect different mementos from places we have enjoyed seeing or places where we have had magical moments. Things ranging form hats, mugs post cards, match books, rocks, soil/sand, & shells. It doesn’t matter if it’s form mother nature (I do not cause any damage to the natural setting) or a store. My wife likes to collect handmade Christmas tree ornaments, wooden bowls, woven baskets, & handmade dolls.

I like the idea of collecting picture albums. Bigfrank do you have any pointers as to good places to look for picture album with the name of location on it?

      Photo albums .......

      Mike,

I've gotten photo albums imprinted with our trip destinations ~~ anything you'd like. I've ordered from 20th Century Plastics, (maybe 21st Century now......). They're located in Brea, CA ~ I'm sure they have a web site ~ do a google search. I know they still exist, as I get advertisements in the mail all the time, (ya know, once on a list ....) Their 800 # 767-0777. Hope this helps!! Good Luck!!

We have collected many different objects from many places. When we were in South East Asia - Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, we would be traveling down dirt roads in the middle of nowhere, when suddenly you’d see someone walking. I would ask the driver to stop. I would then buy whatever instrument they’d be carrying - usually a home-made knife or machete that was wrapped around their waist. Each item is very unique to the ethnic tribe that made them.

We also collected ethnic musical instruments & ethnic dolls from a lot of different countries.

But my pride and joy is when we were in Hanoi. We were talking to an elderly couple outside their house, when they asked us to come inside to have a cup of tea. They noticed I was looking at this wooden 20” by 5” box. It was decorated with flowers and birds with men on horses (all made with mother of pearl), two sliding doors and two doors that pull open. It is very old. Anyway, they reluctantly sold it to me for $20USD (as it was one of their personal items). When I returned home, I took it to my friend who is an Indonesia art dealer. He looked at it then told me it is worth $2000USD.

I have been colleting the White House Historial Christmas Ornaments. When we travel we usually bring back something for our house.
