Can't speak to Waterton or Glacier Park in Canada, but GP in Montana has beautiful scenery visible from the highway. ... We stayed in Whitefish & took every road we could around & in the park. It is breathtakingly beautiful. ...
Did you find Whitefish to be conveinient for running all the roads.
We're looking for information on restaurants and lodging.
We found Whitefish to be fine. We didn't stay in a TS while we were there as we were in the area for only four nights. We stayed at the Best Western. There are also B&Bs in the area if you like that type lodging. There are many restaurants in Whitefish since it is a tourist/skiing area. If you'll be timesharing, the TSs on "Big Mountain" aren't as convenient because of having to travel down the mountain to do anything (including going to a restaurant). We enjoyed visiting all the lodges in the park - they are unique. Also you can "hang out" at a lodge even if you're not staying there. For example, at McDonald Lake, you can sit on the lodge deck & enjoy the scenery. You might also want to plan a side trip to Waterton Park in Canada. We didn't get there because we ran out of time.
We were up to Glacier several years ago. Stayed in Whitefish (probably Best Western) and drove the Sun road half way in from the west and then had to go around and drive the other half way in from the east because it wasn't fully opened up yet in mid-June. Went up to the Canadian side and stayed in the hotel (Prince Albert (?)) and had beautiful view. We are big hikers but saw marvelous scenery just driving.
PS. If you are in Whitefish go to the country club (it's open to the public) for dinner. Had great salmon meal there.
