  • My Trip to Las Vegas 4/13 thru 4/20

OMG , this was the best trip I've had in forever!! I hit the jackpot , but it wasn't money Sat: Very uneventfull plane trip thank goodness. We were starving so after checking in atthe Grandview next to Southpoint we went to eat. It was late but that was ok. as we went to the cafe where I ate a $12 prime rib and then played bj for 2 hrs. I bought in for 25 and after 2 hrs I cashed out for $30 , Didn't make any money but didn't loose any either, but it was a lot of fun. We were in Vegas for a wrestling convention, CAC or Cauliflower Alley Club.

Sun: Met Fern & Rick at South Point at the Mexican restaurant where we had a blast catching up. I was to meet a blind date at the Gold Coast at 5PM but I lost the keys to the rental car and after 4 hrs and $270 I was exhausted and didn't want to meet anybody. but after 7 phone calls he finally talked me into meeting him. I said, well , I guess you'll see me at my worse. We had been talking over 3 mos so we basically new what to expect , but zowie, it was great!! Enuff on that, lol He took Kelli & me to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory where we talked and talked , even Kelli liked him and if you know Kelli she's not the most sociable. So Sunday turned out great afterall.

    MON & Tues:

Monday Kelli & I went to the strip where she pushed me from M& M world all the way to the Mirage!!Stopped & picked up tix to Donny & Marie for Thurs and went to the Mirage to see where the Terry Fator theather was as we were going there Fri. As it turns out Rhonda Orton got us 2/1 tix with discount so we were really thrilled. We got back in time to go to dinner before the match. Al & I went to the buffett at the Palms and Kelli stayed at Gold Coast and ate supper with another friend of mine. We got back in time for the matches and we all had a blast and Kelli was called up to show what a "low" blow looked like. We were rolling. We all went back to the condo to sit around and talk. He surprised us with 2 autographed jpics of Randy Orton , thanks to his Aunt Rhonda who was a great friend of Als.

Tues: Al was running the cribbage tourney so after meeting a bunch of his friends we headed out to the strip again. We ate lunch at Blondies in the Miracle Mile shops. This was a living social coupon. I had the "Drunken Chicken" which was absolutely fabulous and Kelli had the cheeseburger which was also good but I recommend the chicken. That night we met for the baloney blowout where we all wore red in honor of William Moody aka Paul Bearer. It was basically a cold cut buffet. We found ourselves sitting at the front table with Ivan Koloff & his wife, Bill White & his girlfriend, another gentleman & Al, Kelli & Me. I had no idea we would be sitting so close to all the action. Well, I was impressed.

        WED& thursday : fLYING TRAPEZE & DONNIE & marie

After checking into the Gold Coast to see what's happening we headed to Treasure Island where we ate lunch at Kahunaville. I had a s/l coupon too which saved so much money!! We ordered an appetizer of shrimp & scallops which was enhanced by a lovely presentation. It was really good, esp the scallops. Then Kelli ordered her cheeseburger , which was the best I'd ever tasted in a long time!!! I had the almond crusted Mahi Mahi which was very moist and so flavorable. I would highly recommend this restaurant esp if you get a living social or groupon deal. We ate lunch so it was quiet but we missed the bartender show. I imagine it would be really loud at night.

We headed out to the strip again and looked at all the casino's we missed yesterday. Met back up at the Gold Coast where we had the big banquet and aqain was seated at the head table. I thought Kelli was going to pass out as we were so close to many of her favs. At our table we had Ivan Koloff & his wife, Bill & his girlfriend, Royal Duncan , me, Al, Ricki Ataki, B Brian Blair, Kelli . I was happy as I used to have a crush on Brian when I was young. I've got a great pic of Kelli & him together. On the table to the right was Jake "the Snake" Roberts & DDP , which was one of Kelli's favs. On the table to the left we had Ricky Steamboat, Jim ROss, (good ole JR) Beth Phoenix, Edge, who is an absolute fav of Kelli's & Sgt Slaughter, the Rock's Mom. It was nirvana!! The Rock's Mom is super nice and very friendly & classy. Good friend of Al's and she talked to Kelli for a long time.
After the dinner we met many others such as Ivory & Molly Holly and I introduced Al to my friend Adam Pierce who did a touching tribute to Bill Moody. I actually knew somebody he didn't lol. It seemed like everyone knew Al so we were easily entertained without having to "hunt down" wrestlers for autographs. How's that for a Wed ????

Thurs:: Big day today!!!! Got up & went to Kelli's hourlong trapeze lesson. It was held at a house in a residential section near Lake Mead. I thought to myself rip off. NOT OMG what an experience. She had been "flying" since she was 5 and her family had performed for the Queen of England. They wanted a more stable life for their family so hence the training school. At first Kelli was scared to death and I confess my heart was in my stomach as I watched Kelli high above me . At first I thought she was going to chicken out but she tried it and loved it. Once she realized she was safe she had a ball. The 2nd time she had a huge smile on her face and couldn't wait to do it again. You should have seen her hanging by her legs and then she did a back flip and landed on the net. Too watch her go from being petrified to mastering the flip was such a joy for me!!! Wow, is all I can say. If you have a chance to do this go for it!!!

Ater that we went & picked up Al and went to lunch at Queen Victoria's pub . Thanks again LS. The food was great but it was so sad to see the Riviera in the run down state it has become. That whole area around there is sad. Took Al & Kelli to get their souveniers and then went to the condo to get ready for Donnie & Marie!! OMG what a show!!!! They did all types of music , from their hits to opera, to broadway, etc. No intermission and it was all just wonderful. This is one show I would highly recommend. Got discount tix from Travelzoo and was worth every penny of it. GO SEE THIS SHOW!!!!! Went back to condo to pick up Al and grabbed a burger from McDonalds. Woo HOO WED

          FRIDAY & Saturday"

This was a different day in many ways. Very sad for me as I took my new best friend to the airport. We hugged and said our goodbyes and as I drove away I looked in the rear view mirror he hadn't moved as he watched us leave. He looked so sad & I was trying not to cry What a wonderful friend he was, so thoughtful and so kind. Kelli liked him too and she doesn't like easily. We headed out to Red Rock Canyon where we spent the day enjoying nature. It was a pleasant change from the strip. So much beauty so close to the garishness of LV. We ate at Red Rock Casino in the food court where upon leaving I discovered they had a Pinks which I had been wanting to try but never made it. I was po'd at myself for not seeing it.

That night we went to see Terry Fator , which is another show I highly recommend. He is soooo talented. We got some stuff there to remember him by. This & Donny & Marie were both great in their own way. Would highly recommend both. After the show we slowly drove the strip and stopped at the famous sign to take pictures . Ate a late meal at Southpoint. Another great day:

Sat: Got up and ate breakfast at South Point , and headed to the airport. Kelli asked me if I was going to see Al again. He's a keeper she said. Yea, it was the most incredible trip of a lifetime. Doubt I can ever have a better one. Aferall only in Vegas can you find romance, wrestlers, & Donny & Marie.

Hope you enjoyed my trip and thank you for letting me relive it.

What a fantastic trip. Shaggy. You know how to vacation and I hope that you have some pictures too of Kelly taking a trapeze lesson. You may have been too shocked and forgotten to take the camera out. She is brave!

Nice to have met Fern again and Al and all the other people from your favorite sport. Will you post pictures?

                        I love this one-sentence summary!

I want to go to Las Vegas just to see some of the hotels. I'm fairly sure my family's response to the Caesar's Palace complex would be about on par to the average non-Romans' response to Rome at it's height.
