“A Must Must Try in Downtown PV, I will be back for sure!”
This is one of those places to eat that you must try and you will return. It is not on the bustling malecon but up the hill from the beach. You enter via a staircase that leads to many levels of garden, or indoor air conditioned dining. The decor is breathtaking to say the least. It is just charming. Walls of candles, flowers and trees abound, inside bright colors, comfortable chairs and beautiful touches with Mexican flair. We were greeted on arrival and the service from start to finish was just wonderful. Very attentive but not overbearing.
We started our meal with Totopos and salsa, something we are used to coming from Guadalajara area where this is the usual. We admired the atmosphere and ambiance while deciding what to drink. Some of us had coconut daiquiris which were incredibly rich. I personally had to try a margarita, if you make a good margarita most likely your food is good hehe. Beautifully presented frozen margarita in a nice glass and then asked to tell the waiter when I had enough tequila. They show you the bottle and pour it table side into the mix. Very unique. Next up traditional Guacamole served and made table side, again a great touch.
We stared with a serving of calamari, one of my husbands favorite but not mine. Well surprise it was fantastic, I am converted at least when here at Si Senor Garden.
Then we decided to share the sampler fish dish, which is for two but easily serves 4 ...including lobster, mussels, calamara, shrimp, and fried potatoes. Once again lobster in Mexico is not my thing coming from Boston ( Maine lobster). Many surprises were held in this meal. The fish plate was served on a flaming sail boat with drawn butter and seasoning on the side. Very, very impressive. The lobster much to my chagrin was tasty, tender and I loved it, imagine. Nope it is not Maine, cold water lobster but the best lobster I have had in Mexico. Everything on that plate was just wonderful.
We dined and enjoyed our drinks and food whilst a Harp player, romanticized our time. In the comfortable air conditioning, comfortable seats, looking out at multi tired level garden dining we felt so comfortable and content. Impressed to say the least and wondering why we had not found this gem of a restaurant sooner. They even have an area higher up the tier for private parties etc. hmm, maybe a future reunion or what have you.
The menu is extensive with many options running the gamut from seafood to Mexican. The prices are reasonable with good sized portions. The atmosphere and ambiance are above par amongst the town mind you. You must check out and spend time actually looking at the various decor areas and items including the glass covered tunnel in the ladies room and the quite unique sinks. The service was very attentive and timely. The owner Abelardo was present and so friendly. Did I mention it was raining when we arrived and as we started up the stairs a waiter met us with an umbrella. Nice!
So what more can I say, we all agreed we are going back as soon as possible which means in November. I am going on a girls trip to PV so we will absolutely make this one of our must eat places. Please check it out, you will love it, thus far I think it beats all the places I have been to on the Malecon.
