Thanks. The FF Flagstaff was great, one of the best we have stayed at. Large cathedral ceilings in lv and hot tub on deck. Only about 80 miles from Grand Canyon. We enjoyed it a lot.

        ken,

How would you compare your stay in Sedona vs. Flagstaff? If you would go back is there one of the two you would prefer? Or are they very comparable but different experiences?

Most timesharers always say go to Sedona.

          Mike,
We didn't stay in Sedona we went down there from Flagstaff.
We were very happy with the FF Flagstaff and it is close enough to tour Sedona while there, we went down several times. The Sedona area is prettier scenery, but Flagstaff is closer to the Grand Canyon. Also, the temps in flagstaff were more to my liking, but that is a personal taste think. It was in 70's and 80's during the day and 40's at night in Flagstaff. Like I said we enjoyed out stay in flagstaff but I'm sure we would have liked the resort in Sedona also.

I'll be heading to both Flagstaff and Sedona this Christmas. Any "don't miss" recommendations? I have already started researching things to do. I am planning to visit the Grand Canyon on Christmas day; it will probably be the only thing open that day!

By the way, your pictures were great to see.

              The obvious is the canyon.
Also there are several indian ruins near both Sedona and Flagstaff which we found pretty interesting.
Walnut Canyon near Flagstaff was a pretty interesting hike thru part of the the canyon with ruins right off the path that you can actually go in to. Don't know if there will be snow there tho, as Flagstaff is at 7000 feet and does get snow as doe the Grand Canyon.
The Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff is an interesting stop.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Thanks for sharing the pics, Ken.

FF is a great resort in a convenient location for seeing Northern AZ.

Walnut Canyon is a great hike, up close and personal to the cliff dwellings!

There is also Sunset Crater and Wapatki Park...again very neat to see how AZ has a volcanic history and more Native ruins.

                  There is also Lowell Observatory.

A bit of a drive but fun is also Meteor Crater east of Flagstaff. Or further east is Petrified Forest or Canyon de Chelley.

You can drive West to Williams (30 miles) and catch the Grand Canyon RR to get to the South Rim. In the winter, it can be a little chilly, but the air is so crisp and clear!

Sedona, well, Ken shot some nice pics of Sedona, so it gives a preview of how lovely it is.

The area around Sedona boasts natural beauty, Native ruins within short drives, opportunities to fish, hike, mountain bike, learn about the history at a local museum. There are shops, art galleries, and good restaurants.

December is chilly in the North of AZ...can have snow...be prepared to dress in layers.

I hope to see Glacier NP in another month.

                      Robert,
Let us know how much Glacier is still left in Glacier NP when you get there!

                        Ken,

Great pictures. I was just there last year and your pictures reminded me of just how beautiful that area is.

As we were going for less effort than camping during the rainy night at Sedona, I opted to check out “Last Minute” with Fairfield Sedona. Obtained a one bedroom Deluxe. King bed and sleep sofa for 12,750 points.

Grand Canyon Inn at Valle, (where US180 meets USR64) between Williams and South Rim charged $66.13 total for two double beds in one room. We opted for this to allow for seeing the canyon in the light of sunset and sunrise. We wanted supper and rest at bargain prices and still be within driving distance of the canyon. Wanted to be there prior to 0615.

12 miles south of Flagstaff on Hwy 89 A, there is a Forest Service Information Center, only open March-October, but there is a good overlook of Oak Creek Canyon. Of course, drive the whole length of the canyon, both directions.

Café Jose (behind Mc Donalds) has very large menu at value prices. Only complaint, no margaritas.

View Sedona from top of Airport Road.

Visit The Chapel of the Holy Cross http://sedona-attractions.10-best.in...onachapel.html

Take in the special arts and crafts village Tlaquepaque (pronounced T-lockey-pockey).
