  • Mon: Inside passage

Today when I woke up, I pulled open the curtain, stepped out on the balcony and there was a whales fin waving at me!! I thought this was a good sign!! Tonight was formal night and our group pic. It was also lobster night in the restaurant. I have to admit I ate my lobster tails and Kathy & I split another one. I think most of us ordered several appetisers and several desserts so we could take a "small" bite of everything I really liked the Versaille )sp), They tried hard to put us all together.

Went to the show and was minding my own business when at least a 300lb woman stepped full force on my foot!!! Talk about hurting!! It's a wonder she didn't break the darn thing. I let out an explicative in the very quiet theater. I just had to laugh thinking oh goodness what next!! After the show I left my nightly deposit in the casino.

    Tues: Juneau/ Whale watch

Today was a day I was looking forward to, the whale watch!! Several tuggers were doing this and it was great fun. I thought it was a little pricey, but did enjoy it. Some of us thought it was the highlight of the trip. Walked over to Orca Enterprises and ended up with Capt Scotty but that was ok. Off we went in our little purple boat in search of whales. You are only allowed to get within so many feet of them but if they get near you you don't have to move. All of a sudden all 6 whales breached right in front of us. It was awesome!! and of course I missed the picture!!

Once we got back Emmy & Peter, Karen & I went to the Red Dog Saloon. I was immediatly at home!! I loved the place!!Sawdust on the floor, all kinds of animal heads on the walls and a guy singing for tips. What more could you ask. I tried the clam chowder cooked in salmon brother, and it was delicious!! Afterwards, I stayed behind and moseyed back to the ship looking in all the shops.

That night a bunch of us ate at Aqua and then went to the show. The comedian was just awful. Long day, slept like a log. Karen used ear plugs so I always tried to go to sleep first!. We had snoring contest. I'm sure she thought I won, but I was sure she did!! shaggy

      Wed: Skagway

I had made an appointment to go to the Yukon/train with Chilkoot Tours . We were to meet at 7:30 (after being told not to hurry) The train didn't leave until 8:30. Karen said she thought she saw Chilkoot leaving but I wasn't concerned, they would be right back. WRONG!!! They never showed up. I called their office hotter than he--! Jaybee saw me from her balcony talking with my hands and knew something was wrong. They said they had been there since 7:15 and didn't leave until 7"45 as the train was leaving at 8am. Huh? Anywho they couldn't take us and when I found out they didn't charge me I hung up on them. Karen talked the tour guide of NCCL to let us go on their tour. It cost us about $25 more and we were own a big bus with about 42 people instead of a small 14 person van. I was not a happy camper, esp when I found out we were too big to stop at the waterfall!! We did make several stops for photo opps and went all the way to Emerald Lake. Lunch was included , bbq chicken at Carcross crossing. Went to the museum where we saw a bunch of stuffed animals. He is supposedly rated 3rd in the world for taxidermist. The train was very nice and tried to take some pics out the back area. I did post on cruise critic about the mixup at Chilcot tours and they got lots of calls from other people airing their concerns about getting left behind. I don't think anyone else will be left for a long long time.

Once I got back I ran into Sheila who was so happy to see me!! Evidently I was missing in action. They had been paging me before they took off. Everyone thought I had missed the ship!! My card didn't swipe so they had to put me in manually and I guess they had a computer glitch. I was not a ghost, I was really here!!

Tonight we ate at Cagneys. It is a specialty restaurant like a steak house. I ordered surf and turf and it was the best meal I had all week. My filet was cooked just right, rare but not cold, and the lobster included the tail and the claw. Oh my, I could have eaten there every night!!

I almost fell asleep in the show so I left only to find out I missed Kay's outstanding performance on stage!! shaggy

Shaggy....sorry to hear about the train incident, but all in all, sounds like you were having a great time.

The whale watching sounds terrific.....that is something I would definitely love to see.

Also, sounds as if you guys ate very well.....what's better than a great meal.....

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
