After so much luxury in our timeshares I needed a place to lay my head on the way to Grandma's House and could not afford a really nice place so hopped on line , Hotels.com, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc . My only requrement was clean, cheap, and would take my dog, Monkey. I could have chosen Days Inn for $60 or Motel 6 for $44. Called Motel 6 and their rate was cheaper, $41 30 with tax for a non smoking, double bed and I could bring MOnkey for free (Days Inn wanted $10 extra for Monkey. I was praying I wouldn't get cooties, bed bugs or lice and was pleasantly surprised to enter a clean room (albeit a little spartin) I was tickled, Monkey wasn't. She peed twice on the carpet and once in the bathroom and went back and forth between Kelli and me sleeping a little with the both of us. I kept waking up with horrible leg cramps. I had forgotten to take my medicine and I paid dearly for it. I have already made reservations for Xmas eve. I would be a little cautious about Motel 6 in some areas of the country but I knew the location and wasn't worried about safety. Very pleased.
Now for the miracle. As many of you know I go back & forth to Southern Pines every week or at least e/o week. (200 miles) to check on my mom at the assisted living center. She had not been out of the home in over 2 mos and was withering down to nothing. I normally stay with my cousin and they were having a traditional dinner with the hopes of getting mom out to share the bountiful feast. Faint, I talked her into it!! With help from the nurses we got her in my car and once there I transferred her to the wheelchair and got her in the house. Mother ate like there was no tomorrow. She ate 2 plates and then kept noshing on left overs. Evelyn & I just grinned and gave thanx for letting Mom have a wonderful holiday. I think we had the better holiday tho.
Thanx for listening to my travel tale and if any of you have a Thanksgiving tale I'd love to hear about it. !! Shaggy
