Just yesterday my aspiring ski bum (boardbum really) was examining a map of the Wasatch mountains and making fun of Powder Mountain b/c it looked small compared to so many other resorts in the area -- wait til he hears you have to take a school bus to the top

I dare not show him this article; they make me nervous enough without starting on ungroomed terrain with 500" of snow.

If anybody is a skier and you are looking for a great time in the North East we have really liked Killington during week #6. It is the week before presidents day and while it seems that most of New England is on vacation that following week the week we own has never been all that busy on the mountain.

It seems, why go skiing the week before we get off work/school when next week we can do it without taking the time off?

As a favor, you can also rent our unit as I don't have the vacation time to go up this year:

      http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...p?do=ad&id=210

I'll even drop the rent down to $1000. This is a 4-BR Chalet that sleeps at least 10 and it is 3-miles from the Rams Head lift and about 4.5 miles from the Killington Gondola!

Ah, Ken, you are tempting me! Alas, the drive is too long for us for a weekend and we can't take the kids out of school that week. But I will give a wholehearted endorsement of Killington as a fantastic ski area, and I bet that week will be crowd free and a great time to be there.

Nice to see the Crystal Mouintain and Schweitzer made the list. I ski Crystal several times per year, as it's only about two hours away. Stevens Pass didn't make the list, and is almost as good as Crystal,

But, frankly, the Place to go in Western Washington, if they have snow, is Mission Ridge, just outside of Wenatchee. The amount of snow is less and more variable than at Crystal and Stevens, but it's much drier and the runs are hardly ever crowded. The terrain and the views of the Columbia River Gorge and the Columbia Basin are spectacular.

Schweitzer is nice, but out of the way to get to, and the total cost is winds up being about the same money as I spend going to Whistler. Pend O'Reille Shores is a TS resort that is pretty close to Schweitzer.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

          “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Winter Park, CO is a ski area that is not nearly as busy as the rest. This was actually owned and managed by the city of Denver until a few years ago, when the city finally gave it up.

As far as good skiing goes, this is the best, according to our son-in-law and one of our son's best friends, who were both ompetitive skiers when they were in college. The two of them would never go anywhere else. They have a large number of runs and lots of black.
