  • Generally, when are the best airfares posted

I just booked a flight for my husband using my ff points. I checked the airfare for my own ticket before I booked his flight. I swear the price of the ticket that I was going to purchase jumped by $300 in a few minutes. I know prices can change minute by minute, but that's a bit much.

Is there a guideline as to when the best airfares are posted - like Mondays after midnight?

Also, how long before a flight to London can I expect the best fares? I noticed in the fall that airfares to Hawaii seemed to drop about a month before my trip.

    Thanks!

That is great information to have here. At the same time I recommend going to www.flyertalk.com to get more specifics. There is a wealth of information there. Let us know what you find out.

I have found that sometimes it is best to log off an airline site, clear the cookies and cache, and go back in and sometimes you find that an airfare you saw a few minutes ago, miraculously is back.

Haven't really explored it completely, but http://www.farecompare.com/ looks like it could be helpful.

I think I may have been confused because I also looked at farecompare.com and they have the price listed without taxes.

But, I did see some very weird stuff while trying to price a business class flight. I just posted that saga on another thread.
