  • Vegas trip: 3/7-3/11

Day 1 – Steve, Lizzie and I arrived Las Vegas just before noon. No problems with the flight or picking up luggage or car. Drove over and checked into the Fairfield Grand Desert. We were in Tower One with a gorgeous view of the pool area. Unit was large, with a Jacuzzi tub in the master bath and two double beds in the second bedroom (the girls were pleased with that). Looks like there were lots of activities, which we didn’t participate in. Upon check in we were sent to see someone to get our parking pass. This is also where we were “invited” to participate in a 90 minute presentation in order to get other “stuff: We declined and weren’t bothered again. After leaving the luggage in the room we headed for the strip. Started out in New York New York where we had lunch. From there I really don’t remember where all we went. I do remember heading back to the timeshare before dinner. We had dinner at the Border Grill at Mandalay Bay. Very good.

Day 2 – More strip, then headed back to the timeshare about the same time Kathleen arrived in Las Vegas. This was her first time getting to and from an airport by herself. What an airport to break her in on, lol. She caught a cab and got to the Fairfield around 5:00 p.m. Lizzie and I were using one of the spas in the pool area. After everyone had cleaned up we headed to Fremont Street for the Fremont Street Experience and dinner. I don’t think any of us were quite sure what the light show was, I certainly didn’t realize that the section of Fremont Street was covered and that’s where the light show was.

Day 3 – Out to breakfast at Ellis Island, and then on to Hoover Dam. Walked over the dam and back and then took the tour. I had taken the tour years ago and all I remembered was going down into the dam by elevator. Headed back to the strip after that and ended up having a very late lunch. Which hotel we went when is all a blur. Late dinner at Francesco’s at Treasure Island. Somewhere along the way we saw the fountain show at the Bellagio several times.

Day 4 – More strip, went to the auto museum/display at the Imperial (I’d found a free entrance coupon online somewhere) lots of walking, back to the timeshare to rest up a bit. Headed to the Bellagio for dinner and “O”. They are installing a “garden” in the conservatory area. It’s hard to describe, very impressive though. “O” was wonderful, but Lizzie and I both decided that for some reason we liked “Mystere” better.

Day 5 – Our last day. One more trip to the strip where the girls road the Manhatten Coaster. Better them than me. After walking around, we had lunch at the Excaliber and then decided to head to the airport. Both girls are planning their “next” trips.

You know I see it is a good idea to keep a small note pad with what you do every day. Half the times I tend to forget what I did on which day.
