  • US Air (Honesty ) Passport problem

Yesterday I got a voice mail on my cell phone saying that this is Brenda from US Air and she had found my passport and some other papers that belonged to me. Please call her back ---no phone #!!! I was so upset and didn't know where to call, heck, I didn't know I'd even lost it!! I called US Airways, no way to find a Brenda ( I thought it was Philly, where I had gone thru customs) No help at all, I called lost and found, no help, altho they said they would note it and be on the lookout for it. Trying to just get to a human was unnerving to say the least. They assured me that she would call back when I didn't call her. Finally got her # off my house phone so called her immediatly.
She was in the Charlotte hub (final destination) Said she found it on a chair and also found my $500 worth of travelers checks!!! I was in tears of joy and relief and asked her to keep $100. She wouldn't hear of it, and is mailing it to me on her own. I wanted to write a letter to her boss but she didn't want me too as she was going against protocol. She should have turned it into lost & found but she wasn't sure when I would get them. I shudder to think what might have happened had someone else had found them. She couldn't believe I didn't even know they were missing. I do believe US Air will be my airline of choice from now on. Someone upstairs was looking out for me. Shaggy

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

      Whew!

Leslie if she sends it back to you with her personal return address I'd send Brenda a little something a coffee basket or whatever.

How incredibly honest and nice it was for her to contact you.

Did you luck out or what. Go play lotto fast!

I think if she would have turned it in you would have gotten your passport back but no checks unless you canceled them right away.

Shaggy, you were really lucky with the lady who found your stuff but you have to be more careful from now on. I don't even want to think what could have been the outcome of this. You are one lucky lady for sure.

              Leslie, you lucky duck,
Go out and buy a passport and money carrier that you wear around your neck inside your shirt. Then don't leave home without it!

              cheers,
              Ann

There are some honest folks out there. My father-in-laws' wife was travelling with thousands of dollars in jewelry in her purse including a ring worth $20,000 returning home to FLA from Salt Lake City with a plane change in New Mexico. She does not normally have the jewelry with her but her brother a jeweler in SLC just did some repairs for her.

Anyway when she arrived in FLA she realized that the bag with the jewelry was not in her purse. After calling the airports she located her bag still intact in the New Mexico Lost in Found. Someone turned it in and never left their name so she had no when to thank or reward. She thinks it was a Southwest employee cleaning the plane she got off of in New Mexico. My FIL immediately got on a plance to New Mexico to retrive the bag. Talk about lucky. The jewelry had alot of sentimental value.

I am very hard on this air line. But this person must be a very special employee. You are one luckie person.

After you rec'd your information from this angel, write a "Thank You Letter" to her with a copy to the CEO of US Air.

It says a lot about the human condition that we are all so thrilled and amazed that someone would do the right thing! I'm sure glad that she did...good for you, Shaggy.

                      Shaggy,
It's one of the many good things that you've done for others coming back to you.
                      Glad to hear it .

                        You are very lucky!

You can still write to the boss or customer services that you received terrific service beyond the call of duty from her without mentioning the specifics.

You must be living right The passport was so hard to get in time, then lost it when you almost got home. What luck, someone must be looking out for you.

I'm just not sure, I'd ever travel with Shaggy (the feelings mutual, I'm sure.) Seems you'd be a little more guarded with the passport after applying late and getting congress(wo)man to intervene.

You're too right Connie, sad but true.
Shaggy, amazing to me as well that you got it all back, but please be more careful in your travels from now on. Take this as a sign, you might not be as lucky again.
