A first time visit to Seattle & Victoria pre-trip report
We have also tested how easy it is to strip quickly should we be profiled as possible terrorists mascarading as a 60ish gray haired, wrinkled, myopic, slightly deaf white couple traveling with our 79 year old mother.
I can't tell you how many times, I'm checked at the airport. My DH, and friends all laugh at me. It's annoying.
Great Pic of Seattle. Can't wait to hear the rest of your report.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
Thanks for sharing these notes on your trip....I agree with everyone else, your writing is fun to read, and you SHOULD be a paid travel writer (or comedienne...)
.....and compliments. I took copious notes while on this trip but trying to decipher them days later is quite a challenge. I love reading travel books & trip reports and talking travel with my friends but have only recently tried to actually write anything down on paper. It's a lot harder than I realized. What was fun & exciting to experience at the time can sound pretty boring when it is retold later. I have a new found admiration for everyone who has taken the time to share their travel stories.
As for retiring to warmer climates, we have also briefly considered that. But we are native Californians so for much of the year our weather is fabulous. The cost & hassle of maintaining a 2nd residence is not appealing. Well, let's face it, we can't afford a second place. We got bitten by the timeshare bug and now own enough weeks to spend our brief winter season in Palm Springs, Arizona & Hawaii. Next year we have lined up 3 weeks in PS, 2 weeks in AZ, & 3 weeks in Hawaii. With a week or so between each jaunt to check on the house & sort through the mail, we are able to be gone for most of the coldest weather and still be home to hide Easter eggs for our grandkids. Predicting the start of Spring around here has gotten dicey what with Global Warming or whatever. Our seasons seem to have shifted around. And I don't want to use up all my timeshare weeks just trying to avoid the snow. So we use a couple to explore new destinations each year. Like Seattle & Victoria.
