or how to gain 4lbs in 8 days.
A 2 bedroom summer week in England sitting on-line in RCI’s system at 17 months out. I have a 3 bedroom Yellowstone Village on hold for the same check-in date and obviously we can’t do both. I ask the testosterone crowd which they would prefer and get a resounding vote for ENGLAND.
And so England it is.
Time slowly creeps by and I begin checking for airfare. Nothing even close to acceptable for our travel dates. The English government enacts a huge tariff on overseas flights to London and I begin to wonder if I can get us there. Oh and the British Pound Sterling hits a record exchange rate of one for two US Dollars. Maybe I should have kept Yellowstone I refuse to give this back to RCI.
And then it happens. Three months prior to our travel dates Delta has a non-stop to Shannon Ireland for $547RT all-in. I am ever grateful to member Carolinian as he is the one that pointed out that I could get cheap air to London on Ryan Air. With those fares tacked on we manage under $650 each. Pretty good when non-stop to London from New York is regularly been coming in at nearly $900.
Speaking of Steve; he has been very generous with advice and links for Europe travel. You can check those out in the lnks directory on this website here: http://www.timeshareforums.com/links/index.php
This is where I go to find a rental car. My husband cannot drive a stick and I can but haven’t done regularly in a decade. NOT something I want to pick back up on the wrong side of the road, on the wrong side of the car and left-handed. The usual suspects that we regularly use here in the US are wickedly expensive. $500 or more for a week with the automatic surcharge. I finally find a great rate with Europcar. $305 for 8 days.
Joyce’s recommendation for the SAS Radisson hotel in Limerick comes thru at $150 for the night and we are ready to go.
