I absolutely hate the unpacking and outting everything back where they belong. I sometimes leave it there for weeks because I just couldn't face it and of course everyone else is quite content to leave it where it is until I get around to it.

Sydney, I also hate unpacking and getting back in the swing of things but I hate most leaving our old cat alone. He is too old for the kennel and I am not completely satisfied with our pet sitter but she is an animal technician so knows if he needs hospitalization. Our cat seems to like her but I wished she would clean the litter box better after him so he won't poop in the house.

I hate the 24 hours prior to leaving. No matter how I plan, I am always going nuts. Once we are out the door, whethor flying or driving, I can relax. I should actually say, once we are 30 minutes from our house, more than once we have had to go back because something was forgotten.

And like Lauren, I also hate the wait between vacations.

And I also hate coming back to the Northeast.

I hate the delays that you find out about when you get to the airport.

I just came back from Los Cabos last week. We were supposed to get on a plane for Vegas, have a 6 hour layover (planned that way) and then fly home from Vegas.
Instead, they cancelled that flight 1 hour prior to our arrival to the airport, (no prior notice); put us on a plane to Phoenix, which was 2.5 hours delayed, then flew to Vegas in order for us to catch the plane home!! We had 30 minutes in the Vegas airport.

The other thing I don't like is the amount of work I have to do at work before and after vacation. I wind up working 12 hours a day several days before I go and it takes me 3-4 days to catch up on all the work after I return.

Lastly, I usually get sick everytime I return. I have been sick since the end of last week and it has knocked me for a loop.

But...I really enjoy vacation, because I go 4-6 times a year!! I just don't like the before and after of vacation.

I hate packing and the usually long walk in the airport to get to the connecting flight. I hate the closeness of the seats on the plane. I hate paying for a rental car. I hate leaving for home before I am ready. with all that said, I LOVE vacations.

I dislike the morning of a flight - I have a phobia of thinking we will miss the plane. Now the husband doesn't think twice about that possibility - never has. It took only 22 years, but we finally get along pre-flight. So for the past 5 years things have been good!

NOW I hate getting through the security line and realizing we have 2 hours to wait for the flight.

                Hope

Aww Emmy, I know just how you feel. I would travel so much easier if it wasn't for my pets. I have two dogs-even though they are young-one is on constant meds and unable to receive vaccines so even boarding is difficult. My Vet has generously offered to keep the one who has special needs-but it still doesn't make it any easier and of course there is the cost. We are visiting Hawaii for two weeks this year and it is going to cost a small fortune just to have the Vet keep them . Aside from that-I think the "stress" of what to bring-what not to bring is the biggest thing I hate. Timesharing/condos with w/d make that easier. I told my family-4 outfits for Hawaii and we will wash-I don't mind. Maybe we can make it in to one suitcase this time

the waiting....to get to the next vacation, to get on the plane, to get checked in at the resort, to get back on the plane...

The different requirements with the airlines. I bought pictures (carry ons) on my cruise from Australia and New Zealand. When I got to the New Zealand airport they said only one carry on. Needless to say bags were unpacking and things were shoved into suitcases. Only to find that people went through the duty free store and were carrying on 3 packages. New Zealand air was wonderful to fly on, Im glad they gave us lots of wine.

                        Sydney

Sydney, You moved before I got to Sydney. I loved your country. We went everywhere, we possibly could in 3 days. It rained and we walked through the rain. What a beautiful city. We were on the cruise and went to Melbourne. We went to the zoo. The cab driver took us for a tour around the city. I think about Australia and its the people that had the greatest impact on me. They were so friendly and patient, just like you.

I love everything about traveling except leaving my cat, Charlie! I can't imagine going anywhere for more than 1 week at a time.

                              1. Getting (and then paying) the credit card bill after the trip!! Definitely what I hate most.

                              2. Planning for everything that has to be taken care of in our absence.

                              3. Having to find internet cafes when we don't travel w/computer, and wasting valuable vacation time plodding thru and deleting spam that made it into our inboxes just so we won't discard anything important.

                              4. Early morning flights - not a morning person. Resenting the security lines and the 2-hour check-in time whenever the flights are. Really resenting the times I've been "wanded".

                              5. Noticing dings on a rental car that we didn't see in the dark of the pick-up garage, not knowing when they happened, and worrying about whether we'll be held responsible (even if we have insurance).

                              6. Getting lost, and entirely missing some of the places/things we've planned because roads weren't marked. (Occasionally this has been a plus, since we ended up at places just as interesting by accident.)

                                Airplane space

I can "go with the flow" through lines and delays, but I want to kick and scream when the person in front of me in the plane reclines their seat! It cuts into my personal space - however little of it I started with - and I think it is extremely rude. If people would only just recline an inch or two just to offset the extreme straight up position, it would be much better for both.
